Besides the Japanese irises, the early daylilies (there are early early, early, mid season, late , and very late categories) are now blooming in earnest as well as the repeat bloomers with the a few mid season daylilies chiming in.
It looks like we are both going to block all UV rays. Next we'll have to compare results. My reordered panels are scheduled to arrive this Tuesday.
I received my order from Plant Delights Nursery, Inc. last Friday. I got a Curcuma 'Sulee Sunshine' which is a ginger and Yucca rostrata 'Sunshine Skies'. Both plants look to be in good shape. I'm always drawn to the unusual.

Plant Delights is a wonderful place Jim, they have several open houses through out the year and one of the most
amazing gardens I've ever seen..Tony Advent scours the earth to find rare and unusual things. His catalog is
certainly entertaining , If a plant is famously difficult to grow he will say do not buy this one!
I got my Bletillas from them although 2 died. I'm sure it was not their fault. Wet and cold this winter made them rot. The other 2 are very healthy. Yes we will certainly compare, Jim.
I will probably still us my cloth screening for sunny days. But for rain, no more oversized blue tarp (I think it was 30' x 20')! I also spray painted the corners that go on top with dayglo paint and the nailheads the grommets hang on. There have been many many times I have been out there in a thunderstorm in the dark trying to see where the nails are, cursing and getting soaked and wondering if I will get hit by lightning while searching for nails!!!!
