Exploring our place in Pennsy and surrounding area we found (besides Platanthera lacera, which I just posted into the July thread) one of the nicest examples of Cladonia cristatella! Whoever claims that Lichen only grow some mm per year is plainly wrong. This year with all the rain, they just explode into growth.
Normally I find Cladonia cristatella growing only on stones and very rocky soil, this time we came across two cut logs which were just covered with it. That is a first for me!
