I am not totally sure where to posts these pictures, but the "garden" at our place in Pennsy was especially interesting this morning.
First, we sat happily at our pond for breakfast when Klaus pointed quietly at the ledge to our right. I had my camera on hand, I did wish I had the telephoto lens on it, but I only had seconds to shoot a couple of pics.
This is not a cow....
And there was the Hummingbird Hawk Moth flitting about the Wild Bergamot which is in full bloom this week.
The Epipactis helleborine are in now in various stages of bloom and setting seed pods.
Thanks Janice!
Btw I should mention that this good size Bear was about equidistant to the house. Decisions, decisions! We decided to stay put and watch which way the rather large animal moved. It seems he headed to the cliffs behind our pond, but we were not really sure. We were speculating if he was going for a swim. I would have loved to get another piccie of that, and then move inside....
Thanks.
Starting a big Bear thread? Ursula = female Bear....
Seriously, Bear sightings at our place are pretty rare. We know they are around and we see signs of them many times, but they stay away from us. We do remember a few years ago, visiting our Lady slippers in the middle of the woods, when Klaus got just about "rained on". The sky was beautiful blue.... We simply walked away.
Despite the heat, last evening we had a wonderful torrential downpour and thunder storm. Everything got a great soaking. Today it's like a steam bath out there in the low 90's.

Welcome to my world, Janice. Thunderstorms and low 90s. It's been like that since mid-June and I expect no change until mid-October. At least the plants love it.
Here are some shots of my longan tree and fruit.

Great harvest, Jim!! Yum!!
We just had another thunderstorm and downpour. YIPEE!! We want to stay out of the drought encompassing most of the state. The rain today was not as heavy as yesterday, but more may come.

Around here the weeds were really starting to take over, so I spent a few hours weeding today. Looks a lot better. Now some of that promised rain please.
