Just beautiful, Kathy. My daylilies have long since retreated for the year.

Nice crepe myrtles, Janice. Mine have been blooming for a month or so. They bloom until frost.

My late ones are blooming now. This is like September in Massachusetts(bloom time-wise)! LOL.
Ursula, did you say you have some baby birds in your orchids??

I am happy to see more Daylilies this way! Thanks for keeping on posting your beauties, Kathy!

Janice, yes! I had re-potted/ chopped apart one of my large fall flowering Cattleyas. I used a new wire basket and lined it with Coconut fiber. There appeared a large hole in the basket and up to now a nervous Wren jumped out of that whenever I came to close. But today both parents carried food into the basket, they eyed me, but didn't freak out. The Cattleya needs to be a bit up-righted when they are done.

Those little wrens are sure good parents! Smiling

Kathy, your day lilies are wonderful...especially Francis Joiner! My few are past their first bloom, but all are rebloomers, so I'm still getting a few at a time, and will all summer.

Ursula, what do you do with those big Catts when they grow through the coco fiber and the basket? I'm asking because my Gerberara needs dividing badly. So far only roots have grown through the fiber, but the plant is growing on top of itself. I'll try to get a pic. in the next few days and ask again on the questions thread. Can't do anything now anyway, as it's in bud.

Carol. I only repot if absolutely necessary, if the plant gets too unwieldy. I don't mind hanging roots. (re hanging roots, see my post in the July thread just now... Smiling )
But, I bought myself a special wire cutter at HD, it cuts the wire basket apart without a problem. And then the Orchid can be examined and split as needed.

Hilarious! I was afraid you were going to say that! I got two of those small wire baskets at BIG Lots years ago, and haven't been able to find them since.

I was at Donniebrook's RU and we had a grab bag. Poor Ted (Karen's dad) had chosen wire baskets (one of which was small) and when it was my turn, I stole them back. He was so confused. He held on tight to them and looked at me like I was a criminal. I am meaner than I look when it comes to me orchids.

The baby wrens have left the nest. I was lucky enough to see the last one outside the bird house. Of course I did not have my camera and he flew away. I saw the mother come to feed them with food in her beak and look inside.
