LOL, Tom -- thanks for the offer, but I think we're talking opposite ends of a pretty big state here... I'm thinking more like Marinette!! (No wonder you have all those tomatoes Smiling ) We should compare salsa recipes -- mine has been derived over the years (many, many years) from a recipe that I found on the internet back when "the Internet" was Netscape and Compuserve... damn, I'm feeling old now!!

No, that's "Yooper" -- it's in the dictionary now, apparently!
Hilarious!

Ha, not so crazy having only 27 plants. I think I have around 60 tomato plants this year. No wonder I was passing out tomatoes to the entire neighborhood.

I could never get by with only a few plants. Everone I know wants tomatoes from my garden in the summer. I need a farm! In fact I have enough tomatoes planted for a farm. Rolling on the floor laughing

With 60 plants, picking tomatoes is a full time job! Rolling on the floor laughing I usually don't have this many, but aquired a few from a friend after I had raised a bunch, and also bought a few. I just couldn't let them go to waste.

I have never seen Yooper spelled before, just guessed it would be like Upper, the one p to make the u long. But heck phonics only works on about 25 % of the English language anyway. Rolling on the floor laughing I've had people drive farther to get irises from me. Hilarious! One of my former secretaries moved to Upper Mich. after she and her husband retired. They go to Arizona in the winter though. I grew up not too far from Marinette. I'm really going to have to make me one of those Chia pets next year. They look fun.

After the zukes are done and the tomatoes are nearing the end, my friend almost cringe when they see me coming! Rolling on the floor laughing Although this year it looks like there will be a surplus of sweet potatoes and iris potatoes, and winter squash as well. Of course I take a lot to the food pantry as too.

It is such a shame. Around here the food panty will not except anything but canned goods. Nothing fresh from the garden. Sad

So far none of the summer stuff has stopped producing here, but it isn't a banner year for tomatoes. The Black Krim I started from my OP saved seeds has been the one standout...great flavor and heavier production. The chipmunks are very fond of the Tom Thumb minis; they've been taking all they can get, eating half of each and replanting the other half! Rolling on the floor laughing I have seedlings popping up in the oddest places! They'd likely be a big help in the continuation of the tomato garden...if it weren't for their location choices and the eventual big freeze. Hilarious!

Sandy, I agree. I was just thinking today that we're in our best few weeks right now...leading up to the end. It's been just recently that my container flower plantings have hit full and beautiful stride!
So nice to see your gals enjoying your garden! Smiling

I can hardly believe it is almost the unofficial end of summer already with Labor Day on Monday.

I usually get tomatoes thru September although from now on production really slows down. This time of year I really appreciate having a lot of tomato plants since that means there are usually at least a few that I can pick for myself.

It's sure not the end of summer down here in Mississippi, with high's every day in the mid-90's and heat indices of 105-110F! Whistling

That is too warm! But it is sticky and humid here also. But then our northern friends get the opposite weather in September. I figure someones garden is slowing down while others are still going strong.

My tomatoes and bell peppers are still producing, but slowly. My cantaloupe and honey dew melons are kaput - all rotted now.
