I got some nice ones for myself and for my neighbors, so for my first-time attempt at growing them, I can't complain. I will mulch them and then protect them with netting next summer, to keep them off the soil and keep the birds away.

Man 27 tomato plants? Are you trying to prep for the apocalypse? I thought my 6 was too much! Lol, I have made about 20 cans of salsa, 10 quarts of pasta sauce, now I'm just putting them all on my dehydrator but I have so many tomatoes that I don't have any idea how I'll go through even those. Only thing I have left to make for the summer is hot sauce, now that I'm getting a few hot peppers. But even with keeping my dehydrator full and going I still have so many tomatoes that I have no idea what to do with. Confused

I like to can a lot of tomatoes every other year. So next year I should only have a few plants. We'll see. This year I got a bunch given to me after I had started a bunch from seed. I can not throw out a plant. I can always find homes for my extra produce. We have a food pantry that needs it if I can't find a place for it or use it myself.

I picked tomatoes again today. Whole bunches of them and gave four bags away. Still have green tomatoes all over the place.

The milk treatment worked for my squash again this year. The plants are still putting out fresh growth; both in leaves and fruit. Big Grin

My saved self-sown tomato seedling turned into my favorite large cherry from last year! Hurray! I'm so, so happy about that because the seedlings I started for it were lost in a spring vacation-time shuffle. Yay!

Spray with undiluted milk to arrest further development of mildew.

See here, the first and worst mildewed leaves are shriveled up and done, the ones that were lightly affected are still pretty much okay, and there's a lot of newer leaves that haven't mildewed at all.

OK, I thought you were perhaps using it for the calcium, something that is very beneficial when growing tomatoes.

My zucchini are all covered in mildew. I don't mind as it started really late in the season and I am not spraying. When it gets worse I will just pull all the plants.
