Newyorkrita said:Woodsy looking setting way in the backyard. I added those daffs last fall along the row of Serviceberry shrubs. I love the way it turned out.

Those look great in that woodsy setting. Bright yellows in the spring have a way of kicking in the spring fever. Especially the taller ones. Nearly used to miss my crocus and periwinkles nearly hidden. But the daffodil and tulips would put on such a show. The first spring I had them my other flowers did a no-show. I ended up adding daylilies that overgrew their pots.

I don't have any flowers at the moment and have to come online to see some. Even my neighbors don't have flowers. Sometimes I miss being around a bunch of other gardeners. Even if they had a small bed of flowers at the end of the sidewalk, it was something to see as I went for walks and returned home from work. Most of my neighbors now don't have anything but rocks visible while I am out walking. Oh, and a lot of cacti.

I have to be careful of tulips because of deer. Even our 6 foot fence won't stop them & they have been known to walk down the driveway. We can get a batch of green stems sticking up with nothing on top/ The muscari are starting to bloom, but are shorter than usual--I think need fertilizer.

Finally its looking like garden starting.Asiatic and Martagon lilies are peeking and more perennials are up.
I am placing containers just because I am bored and they are easy to move when empty.

My watering tub had a light layer of ice this morning...hopefully, that'll be the last of it. Rain is in our forecast for every day next week, so I'll try to work in the beds as much as possible now...before they get too soggy.

Good increase in Bellflower (Campanula punctata 'Pink Octopus'), but I lost a few purchased plants of the standard Canterbury Bells. I guess I'll stick to my own seed grown plants of those in the future.

A lot of my roses look iffy this spring. There are quite a few that I'm not yet convinced are still alive. The rose arbor may end up becoming the clematis arbor after all.

Daffodils are joyous, and some of the earliest tulips are getting ready to open. Expecting a good show of columbine this year, too. The plants look great! Smiling

light rain here this morning. thunder & lightning in other areas. Fun to see the grass turning green. 53° but feels chilly because it is damp.

Welcome to ATP
Ruth,your gardens look wonderful.

I have opened the access door to the compost box. Will give the resident Voles time to vacate before I start shoveling that black gold onto the containers on the deck.

Peonies next to the house are further along in growth than those even slightly farther away. Why am I surprised?
