Orange pot with Coleus Aurora Black Cherry

I spent my morning potting up a few new planters and re-potting my Asparagus Fern. I can't believe it has taken me so long but I finally finished planting the caladiums.

My caladium are starting to grow. Several have poked through the soil. Can't wait until they grow and unfurl their leaves.

I also just purchased 2 coleus last week. One is 'Red Head', the one I grew a couple years ago. I was so happy to find it at our little local garden center.

Lynn yeaahhhh for your caladiums. They are always worth the wait.

I'm still holding my breath. Should I fertilize them? If so, with what?

I planted several pots of them and the window boxes a few weeks ago and they are starting to show but I had some extras from last year that I just got to this morning.

It will be so much fun seeing each others caladium.

The ones in the window boxes (first to be planted) are just now peeking over the edge.

I love caladium but I will have to enjoy seeing what you all have planted. I did not buy any this year. I did buy some Elephant ears and they have not started to grow yet. I picked them up cheap late in the season from Lowes.

Our summers are not long enough. If I get bulbs I usually get them early and start them in the house in Feb. I hate to see a nice planting in Sept and have to break it down in October. It just is not worth it for one month.

I plant my big Alocasia Port Odora in the ground. They are just breaking surface now. But they move pretty fast once they get going.

Goll-ee, look what just popped out of my shade planter - I thought the squirrels had dug these up!




They did dig the caladium bulbs out of this basket, but it looks okay anyway, I think.

Then there are the old semp and sedum pots. They are sadly neglected but appear to take care of themselves OK.



This is the second year we have planted runner beans to shade the smoke shack.
Volunteer foxgloves also seeded themselves into the pots.
