Here is same plant 6 weeks later. I harvest the chics early for some reason. Can't remember what I did last week, let alone 5 years ago.

Here is same plant at the end of that summer. Just a small note, that is an 8" clay pot.

I do believe after 40 some years our plants have changed some from each other, but still same plant.I would say they are Twins, just not identical Twins. So, are we ready to start the bidding??? Drooling

These photo's were taken yesterday and today.

Don't be so quick to judge just by stolons, because they are usually long, but for some reason they started producing chics early this year, or maybe I should say later, I just don't know. Here's another photo I just took of another plant with longer stolons.

Ps...these files are large. Click on them to make larger.

Bob,
No one has said your plant wasn't a Raspberry Ice!! I agreed with a statement that you "MAY" have a different plant. Reason being the stolons were way too short for some reason.. all my plants have had long reaching stolons and chicks.
and i have had this plant for close to 20 years now. My doubts were erased when you put up this pic. It clearly shows longer stolons. I know there will be a wide variety of shapes & coloring and sizes , in any cultivar depending on growing conditions..Sorry you took it so personal. Rolling my eyes. Rolling my eyes. But after all this is a Semp Discussion thread.
Cliff I tip my hat to you. I tip my hat to you.

I know for a fact, growing conditions can make a big difference on size, stolon length and coloration. That is why I am going to try growing one giving it lots of space. Will also keep most of the offsets remove. Bet it will attain much greater size that what mine are showing at this time. Hurray! Green Grin!

Hey I have Raspberry Ice but not for very long. I bought it just before the Semposium so no telling how big it will get at this point (its neighbor is Hopewell):

Cliff,

I took nothing personal and sorry you feel that way.
I was just simply replying to your statement don't be so quick to judge it just by the stolens. That's it. Nothing more to my reply. Okay?
I welcome all discussion and just because I disagree doesn't mean I take it personal or that I am upset.
Believe it or not, I am a nice guy. I tip my hat to you.

Not everyone can agree! That was life is about. Big Grin Lynn can we put Kevin's remarks in the database under both Silver Thaw and Raspberry Ice? What other information has been gained about the hybridizer?
I have Raspberry Ice in my collection and it maybe get 4". It is not fertilized at all.

J C,
That's not a Raspberry Ice plant at Simplysucculents. I think it's either a Beta or Clara Noyes she's trying to pass off as an Ice.

Okay Cliff, the experiment is on. Hurray!
I will try to transplant mine tomorrow when I get home from work.

I agree with Bob on the Simply Succulents semp. They are noted for having incorrectly named semps. It can happen to any commercial nursery, but most will correct the problem if pointed out to them.

Sandy, thank you so much for the heads up on adding Kevin's above information to the database. Take a look and see if I missed anything. Smiling
