Very nice!
(side by side is good--Thanks Lynn)

wish I had color like those!

Okay--so I just extracted a few more babies and stuck 'em in a rock--aka gently wedged them into crags
Thank You! for the advice
hope it works

Currently, this arrangement is partly shaded by taller plants in all day sun and holds no water, the rock is rough but not porous--how often should I water the rock a little bit to get them rooting?

Lately it's been hot and dry so I've been watering them daily. When it cools down I lighten up on it. I have many rocks that I have them growing on. usually I wait to start them in a week or so but I needed to get a lot going to take with me to a fair. I started some in late July and they're solidly attached to the rocks now.

Thanks,
Fortunately, we are cooling off here.
I can't maintain daily in that location--but at least it is a rock that I can move. Good thing I didn't start with a big boulder... Hilarious!

So here's yet another forum discovery Thumbs up !

According to your web site, Mark, you grow sempervivum in containers? How do you get them to winter over? Or perhaps you're on the coast of Maine where it is warmer than the Northern reaches of Upstate NY? I've just rushed to get all of my potted semps into the ground, hopefully in time to get their roots settled before winter. Now I'm wondering if I needed to bother? Confused

And Lynn, you are right, some of the plants are coloring up. I'll get photos. There's one that looks like a roller, but I'm wondering...

I look forward to the photos MR.
Rollers are even tougher than the semps. You can put them in the ground or into containers and leave them out for the winter. Even in your Upstate New York. Thumbs up

I haven't crossed any intentionally yet. I had planned to this season but things got so busy with preparing for a fair, going away for a week and my dog/companion having to get put down. Hopefully next year but in the meantime I've let the pollinators do the work. Just transplanted 50 of this years babies. (another 50 waiting in the wings. Even if I don't select any to propagate I use them to stuff in cracks in my stone walls or fill stone containers that I create. Growing from seed is a win, win situation.
