That's a good idea- I like seeing the pots really full and overflowing, and surely I can't screw up 2 coleus varieties together, LOL. I can get them to grow so much bigger and better in pots, especially with the water usurping tree roots all over.

I was headed to bed and stupidly peeked in here. LOL I am soooo dead.

Pictures from the last year I had money to spend and time to do something. 2007. The last few years have been rough but we are on our way back!

This is all one bed. I think it's about 120' long. It was a new bed that year.

I wanna do that again! Of course I don't have canna or bananas or massive ears this year. Sad I'll get there!

I was out in the greenhouse from 10am until 8pm. I'm soooo tired. Gotta go die for a few hours now. LOL

Night y'all.

Love that bed, Chele! You can still do Castor beans, which are a great quick fix where you want something big and tropical looking. Just those with the Coleus would be dramatic. You grow some big, ornamental grasses don't you? That would be pretty contrast and nice height. I like the 4 O'clocks in there too! Hmmm....I bet 'Limelight' 4 o'clock would be nice with some of these Coleus too.

Checking my cuttings this morning and noticed some growth Smiling Lightly tugged on several of them, and most seem to be rooting. I've never rooted any little guys like these, only the 4-6" cuttings from my big plants, so I was a little concerned I might screw something up, LOL. Looking good so far.

When do y'all expect them to be ready to pot up?

Very pretty, Michelle.

Last year I used mostly coleus in the bed in front of the front porch, and I loved it. Planning to do the same this year, if I can keep all these things alive that long.

Thank you. I hope to repeat it this summer if I can keep all these stupid plants alive that long. They're getting pretty sad now.

That is gorgeous Karen! I love the limes and yellows against all the reds and burgundies! Did you catch a lot of people slowing down to look? There are not a lot of gardens around here since it's mostly farmland and a lot of houses sit way back off the road. I love to watch people slow down and gawk. I often wonder if they are impressed or thinking it's such a waste since they can't eat it. hahaha The funniest was a large pool of Harley riding bikers. I thought they were going to wreck checking out the daylilies. THAT is a compliment. LOL

Neal, I told Melissa that I almost went crosseyed sticking the Defiance. Those were the shortest cuttings ever! They must have been regrowth in the crotches! So long as the stems make contact with your medium and it stays moist, you should have no problem. Mine were pushed in until the leaves were nearly on the seed mix and in some cases I had to let them touch the mix. It looks like they are all popping up above the trays now. I usually have them ready to sell in 3-4 weeks. I root in those tobacco float trays and the rootballs are usually quite dense! If I can ship them in that amount of time, you should be able to pot them in half the time? Mine are rooting at 70-75°.

Oh, Bonnie sent me a bunch of red castor beans and I'm planning to use those out in the pond garden again. I'm getting rid of all the daylily row beds and just going down to 2-3 seedling beds. I have three large islands out by the road then the huge one around the pond. I want to redo that one but need mucho dirt money and a way to keep it in. The water comes, the dirt goes. It's flat here! Where does it go??

I know it's not nice to drool...but I just did! Your green gardens filled with so much coleus have me wishing I could move out of Phoenix!

I would like to be in the next split box. I tried this once from Florida and of the cuttings I received, only 8 took because my box was shipped so late.
