I really think that Ken's Mini Purple looks very much like the Maxi Purple that Jim posted from OrchidWiz. Other than the obvious color diff which is probably camera/flash related, the shape and markings in the lip are very similar.

It is normal for some types of orchids to take a long time to open. Your orchid looks fine.

Looks good, Sharon. As Jim said, some of my plants will go from sheath to blooms in weeks. I have several plants that have been in sheath for three months. Still waiting to see the buds. I hope I live long enough! Whistling

Have you ever noticed if the flowers on the slow to bloomers last longer?

I don't think there is a correlation, Kitty.

Nope. Only the temperature that I keep the flowering plants in seems to matter. Cool temperatures definitely keep the flowers going longer than warm temperatures.

Wow, you're right. It's gorgeous. Might take a day or two but I'll bet you get a little fragrance as well.

That is a beautiful one, Sharon. It sure does look like my 'Mini Purple'. I can't remember whether there is any fragrance or not.
