MIchele....Thanks for reminding me to spray for thrips. As Char mentioned, this is a big year for bugs: thrips, no seems, beetles, mosquitos....you name it, it's out there this year. I used my mix of Murphy's Soap Oil and water on all my darker plants where thrips are attracted to nibble away on blooms. Heck, by the time I finished, I sprayed my entire garden, and the seedling garden!!

Is this thrip damage on the left hand side? I have never sprayed for insects here, but the mosquitos are really bad and I am noticing a little damage on some of my blooms.

Finally, my garden is beginning to open up with blooms. Slow but sure. I had 2 new plants bloom today.

New to my garden in May, this one, also, comes from Michele. It came with 3 scapes, and is now loaded with buds. I don't have many doubles in my garden, but I took a chance with this one. It just looked too beautiful to pass on. I was right. This one is going to be a knockout when it finds it's footing here, and my bloom season takes off. Huge bloom.

Alex! So happy to see someone up here has blooms, I'm still sittin' here twiddling my thumbs...seeing this thread every evening and watching the scapes grow is keeping the hope alive that bloom will start... sometime before snow flies again.
Really like that Heat Lightning showing as brown. Have a soft spot for the brown ones, they're just.. different.

Char...I hear you. I have an entire garden filled with multiple scapes and buds. IT's just taking an awful long time this year for the blooms to open. I think we can blame this on the nasty Winter and Polar Vortex which lingered for almost 7 weeks here. It's remarkable that these wonderful plants survived those unbelievable arctic temps, and will bloom. I agree with you about reblooms. We will blooming into October this year. La Nino might give us a break this year. I certainly hope so.

It is amazing to be the range that daylilies will grow in successfully. I love Vermont!!

It's possible but hard to tell by your photo. It could be snail/slug damage.
