Catmint, I think it is but I am not positive. I have a lot of birds and can't always isolate the calls. The behavior of chattering at me when I approach the nest area seems to fit, and the place chosen for the nest also seems to fit. So far it is the best guess I can come up with.

No more catbird pics for awhile...I walked back to see what was happening this morning. I am guessing the young 'uns are getting flight training because I got dive-bombed and chased all the way back into the house. She actually perched on a shrub by my door and glared at me until I physically closed the solid door. What a good mom!
I will put an apple half out tonight as a peace offering.

Linda, nice catch of that Oriole at the nectar feeder! I'd love to see orioles ... we're said to have a few here in the state at times but I've only spotted one in the 47 years I've lived in Florida.

Jeanie: That little one does indeed look like a House Wren. Here's a couple of links with photo's for comparison:

I agree A House Wren could be a match. And they are very vocal little birds!! We have them and I love hearing them on my morning walk. Them and the Indigo Buntings are always chattering.

I am not positive but I think I caught a adult catbird and a juvie in the birdbath the other day!

Couple of the hummer I caught on the lilies the other day. It was tricky because I was only about 3-4 feet away and trying to be sure I did not scare her away!

@Claudia, very lovely shots of the hummingbird. That last one is frameworthy. That adult in the birdbath looks exasperated with the little one.

To be a good peeping tom, one must find a close place to perch. Failing that, very good eyesight.

Claudia: What a precious shot of the two at the birdbath and that little one sure looks like a juvenile Gray Catbird to me, with either mom or dad supervising maybe it's first ever bath! The hummingbird at the lily bloom is beautiful!

Nice pics too Claudia. Keep your distance from the babycatbird or mom will get you!

We have a couple of cardinal families in the neighborhood, but I never see them up close. This is as good a shot as I have been able to get.

Just catching up. A lot has been going on & I hope I don't forget & leave anything out comment wise.

Super, super shot of the hummer Claudia!!!!! I agree Frame worthy! I think that is a juvie catbird in the bath too.

Lin, the 2nd shot of that hummie looks like she's cocking her head looking at you. Neat.

Jeanie, yes, it certainly sounds like the catbirds have fledged & you got close to one or more. Yes, I certainly thing that is a wren in the last photo. Plus a telltale sign is the chattering they do. Scold, scold, scold!!!!! They are very vocal about it & I never cease to be amazed how much noise such an itty bitty bird can make!
Do you have feeders out? If you put some out, it will take a while for them to get used to you but the cardinals will become regulars & you can see them much more up close & personal.

Ckat, too funny!

Ann, I usually have feeders out but I emptied and cleaned them last week. I need to refill and put them out. I have yet to see cardinals at the feeders though. I buy a good seed mix with black sunflowers and got feeders with perches that face the seed ports. Don't know what else to do Shrug!

That's odd. Usually cardinals are the first ones at my feeders. Shrug!

My neighbor suggested that my feeders are too out in the open for cardinals. But if I move them, I won't be able to see them or easily refill them in the winter. I have to figure out a solution.

I'd say that's entirely possible. Mine are no more than 6-8 ft. from neighboring shrubs for good, quick cover, if need be. If your feeders are out in the wide open without cover fairly nearby, then some birds could be to 'skiddish' to approach.

Can you post a pic. of your feeding area?

Thanks everyone for the compliments!

My feeders have always been out in the open. I have no shrubs in my yard though my neighbor does have some along the property line between us. I have platform feeders and used a number of different hanging feeders over the years. Different feeders do work better for different birds. The cardinals were always the first and last at my house too. In fact at times we were over run with cardinals!
