Sorry, no photo.
My neighbor yelled for me to run over quickly to see something...she never yells and I rarely run, so I figured it was important.
She and her daughter had arrived home to find an immature hawk with an injured wind sitting on the bottom step of the porch.
The daughter made some phone calls and found a Vet who will treat the bird. All I got was one quick look at the cute little thing.

Oh my .. I'm so glad they found a vet who will treat it and hopefully keep it until it's fully recovered and then release it to the same area. Poor baby, I wonder how it got the injured wing?

Yesterday my neighbor and I both heard a bird making some frantic noises in the trees over her house. It was not a bird voice that we recognized. We have figured out it must have been the frantic adult bird trying desperately to get the baby to fly up to safety. The bird may have left the nest too early and may have fallen. There are cats in the area so that could be a factor. I feel bad for the parent bird but I know that the baby is in good hands at a special vet qualified to treat wild birds of prey.
By the way, we were calling it a 'hawk' but do not have an actual ID; I was only allowed a quick glance so it could be a falcon, IDK.
I will try to get updates if I am able.

Aaah, July is winding down and it's hard to believe August will be here soon, where has this year gone? I sure look forward to some cooler temperatures but I doubt we'll see them before November. It's been so hot and sticky here lately, mid 90's with high humidity making it seem warmer. Not pleasant to be outside taking pictures but I managed a couple just a few minutes ago. The latest with me though is that I dropped my camera on the hard tile floor a couple of days ago. My husband mailed it off to Canon for repair so I'm using the old one for awhile.

Dang, I am happy to just see a hummer with my eyes. No way I could be quick enough to capture such great photos. Congratulations to all who can do that.

greene: LOL, I consider myself pretty lucky to get shots of those speedy little flying jewels. Sometimes they are so quick that when I download my pictures there's just a big blur. The hummers have been around a few times today and this is the only picture I got just a few minutes ago. I took probably 40 of the hummers and this is the only one that came out. Can you find her?

Okay, that's it. In my next life I want to have a house near the water and lots and lots of birds.
Beautiful photos.
Just so you can laugh with me...
the very first time I saw a hummer I started jumping and screaming like a banshee.
Only one little problem with that. It wasn't a hummer, was a large moth.

Was down in Georgia at my sister's house this morning. Brought the camera hoping for a few bird shots. No luck there but these two provided a little breakfast entertainment.

@greene Funny you should mention a moth ... I was outside this evening just after dark and went back to grab my camera. This is some sort of Sphinx Moth on the Pentas blooms; I had to use the flash to get the picture.
