My irises arrived from Country Delights. They were nice sized and in good shape. I had asked that any bonuses be an extra of what I have ordered, and I got two Chocolate Ecstacy! I'm very satisfied, and would recommend them. Thumbs up

C & T arrived. Rhizomes look good. One is a bit small, but hope it does well since I really am curious about it's bloom (Amarillo Rojo). Two are to be sent later. They gave me two very large rhizomes of Durham Dream!!! And they mailed them only yesterday! Now if the rain would let up cos I have planting to do!!!

Just finished planting mine. Only had four to plant, but it's getting hot out. It's supposed to rain about now, but that's not going to happen.

And that is what it looks like too! Yellow and white with red hafts. And yes, C & T Iris Patch. Just got home and Schreiners was waiting at the door. One thing I have to say for them - their rhizomes are huge. My rhizome of Touch of Mahogany is a small giant. Finally have Sky and Sun too! And Raptor Red and Wearing Rubies. Lots of reds to go with the pale ones I have gotten. Big Grin

I got a catalog from Joe Ghio. I'd admired his creations for quite a while. He charges $3.00 for a catalog,
but well worth it. He's at Bayview Gardens in Santa Cruz. I succumbed.

Jan, you will find that most of his flowers are much better in real life then the pictures in his catalog. Most of them are in the data base, thanks to Brad's great pictures. He is very generous too with his bonuses.

I count on Brad's photos for accurate depictions of irises that interest me. He's a terrific photographer ! Thank You!

Joe Ghio puts a box of Iris (and veggies) out in front of his house with a box to put the money in. He charges $3/ rhizome and $1 for a bundle of veggies... I went by yesterday because he complained that his sales were off. He had gargantuan-sized rhizomes with several fat increases on each one. I bought several for my friend (that's my story and I'm sticking to it). I wasn't sure if I'd be able to get her any from our big sale today. Good thing I did.. We sold out in 45 minutes.. We were worried that people wouldn't be planting because of the drought.. I did manage to wrangle 15 more for her (and 5 for me) from the feeding frenzy that was going on. Joe, of course contributed a lot to the sale.

For me... I only picked up a few... I got 'Blue-eyed Susan', 'Struck Twice', 'Queen's Circle', 'Glad', 'Earth Girl' and 'Jungle Shadows'. We've had a lot more Historics in year's past, but only had a few this year.. I picked up 'Edge of the World' from Joe's yesterday and got 'Brouhaha' for helping at the dig on Thursday. I think I need to borrow Jan's husband to dig Hilarious!

Ghio has this deal where you send a sum of money and he sends you some of his extra stock. You can get fewer newer ones or more older ones, your choice, but which ones he sends are his choice. I've often been tempted to try this, maybe this would be a good year to do that if he has a lot of extras. Tempting! $40. minimum plus $14 for postage, but he promises 3 times the value. He calls it the "Surprise Package"
