Thanks - got it now. Thumbs up

Well I know your oak has some size on him now!
On the north side of my house I had two large water oaks shading that side. I planted tea olives and gardenias along the fence line. The shrubs did fine but 5yrs ago winds took out those oaks and the shrubs exploded. The tea olives were 5ft in the shade now 7 ft tall. Even when short they bloom in the fall and spring with that intoxicating fragrance. Yummy!

Actually there's a water oak that has died & is coming down, great limbs at a time. I actually have 2 tea olives in pots that I was going to plant somewhere but then decided those places would not be good so I may just put the tea olives along there. It's close enough to fall that I can hold them in their pots until then.

Dang. I'd been following this, lost it and just found it again. Had some suggestions. And then I read that you started this 4 years ago. Well then, never mind.

Not funny. I have the same issue. Not on the same scale, but still need something that's evergreen and doesn't mind shade.

Oh I'm sorry. I didn't mean to be glib; I thought you were being funny.

I kinda was. I should have realized that it was 4 years ago. I took some pictures but I couldn't remember who posted exactly what. I just know that when I first started reading it, I must have seen the title in the AAQ forum and, of course, it took me to the first unread. Which I now know was 4 years ago and that was before I was a member. I do remember trying to figure out from your drawing why you even needed a privacy hedge since you already had a forest.

But I desperately need to find some evergreen shrubs, preferably native, that will get a little sun but not much. And attract pollinators. The front of my house looks pathetic. All was fine when I bought the house; then a painter mostly killed everything;, then because I knew nothing about plants and the landscaper I hired apparently knew nothing either because the shrubs he planted were almost choked to death by the ground cover he planted. Actually a few were choked to death and I had to remove them. The story gets longer and worse but I'll spare y'all. Just take my word for it that what I have now is just laughable. I have to do something but have no idea what.
