Hurray, I finially did what I have been putting off for a few days. I planted my beans. Got to this late as I only weeded the area I was using this past week. Then instead of planting I couldn't decide on what to use for supports for the pole beans. I had used up my usual bean supports for tomatoes since they were really only extra sturdy tomato cages. So went low tech and made them bamboo teepees to climb.

Planted Black Seeded Blue Lake Pole Beans and Hildora Bush Beans. It will do for beans for me this year.

I have had different sorts but I planted these mainly because I had lots of seed left over from last year ad the year before. No time to plan ahead this year, just plant whatever seeds I could find.

I agree I saved a couple pods from last year's 'Trionfo Di Violetto' and planted those again. It is nice to have the seeds on hand for the next season.

I ate a sungold tomato yesterday. Seeing another one that's about eatable too.

Had to remove two bushbean plants today. They just looked done; I think the soil is not rich enough yet for veggies. They go so far and then they peter out. Seems early for that to happen! Fortunately I have three other bushbean plants that are just hitting their stride. And banana peppers coming along too.

My summer squash is starting to produce. I picked these today and there are lots of smaller ones that soon will be ready.

They are a common green zucchini, two Green Tiger and two Golden Egg.

The squash patch is getting full looking.

Bean teepees. Nothing has come up yet but I guess it has not been so long since I planted seeds.

Like most fresh from the garden produce I think the summer squash I grow tastes SOOOOOO much better than the zucchini bought at the store.

I may already have my last mess of beans on the stove. (Is that just a Southern phrase, "mess of beans"?)

Anyway, I still have a few bush bean plants but they are starting to fade. Not sure if they'll get a second wind or not.

But I learned the name of my compost tomatoes is Indigo Kumquat! Hilarious! Hilarious! Hilarious! I posted I got the seeds from a neighbor, rather than explain that I got the tomatoes from the neighbor and composted some and this is what came in the compost. Whistling

They'll get yellower than this but keep their purple blush (hence the Indigo name I guess)

Interesting tomatoes with the purple blush. I had a variety last year like that, with the purple coloring over the red when it was ripe.

That one, I learned, is called Indigo Rose. (If it's the same -- )

The one I had came from Wild Boar Farms. I couldn't remember the name so I had to go look it up from my 2014 tomato list. It is called Blue Beauty. A beefsteak type tomato. Really a novelty as far as looks go what with the red tomato with the deep indigo shoulders. Just red inside though. Tasted good but to me, not any better than most of my other beefsteak types.
