Bought some today- Cherokee purple, Early girl and Celebrity in fourpacks, 2.25 each, wasn't planning on twelve plants but decided that was better than hunting around for singles (even though last year I found peppers in 'singles' with 2-3 plants per). I would try to save 1-2 each for swap but they're pretty big already, not sure how they'll look in 2 weeks?
Also 4 jalapeno. I think 4 of that is OK.
Plant it and they will come.

Fantastic prices. And much cheaper than even one plant would be at the big box stores here.

Never too many tomatoes just find space for all twelve!! Thumbs up

Matter of fact--they are on sale (Mother's day")--4 for $12 until April 30th. Not a huge savings--$3 each is not so much....but these are reg. $3.78 each.
Check our their add. lots and lots of specials.... Gita

Robin, glad you asked. Papa Johns has eight huge greenhouses of stuff! I never knew they did all that! You see some hoop houses from New Cut Road, turn in then turn left away from the red barn and you'll find parking, cashier and greenhouses. Also had Rutgers, Beefsteak, Supersonic, Mountain Pride, Roma, Mr Stripey, Brandywine, several cherry and couple patio types, bunch of peppers (hot and mild banana, habanero, jalapeno, ghost, bell, orange bell, couple long kinds).petunias, calibrachoas, bacopa, coleus, herbs, hibiscus, bananas, sweet potato vines...lots.. How many tomatoes will you want? I can part with some of these. I also wanted to see what RIchardsons ($$) has on Elvaton Rd, and will do that tomorrow. I have three little Sungolds I started myself, I was going to only use one.

Also wanted to alert you that I went by the Knopps greenhouse off New Cut, where I said I got my bale of potting mix- they are not even set up with anything yet. I don't know what's up, maybe they fill their three small greenhouse just before Mothers day?? baffled. Looked deserted and a mess.

silly Tomatillos, three seeds sprouted quickly, now, weeks later, boatload more have just germinated.

Mark borrowed a tiller and my plot went from awful to awesome in a half hour.
Plant it and they will come.

Meanwhile, another local nursery near me, seems to be just getting their greenhouses going. Only a small group of tomatoes, a dozen or so types in 2 inch individuals for 1.50. I got cheaper yesterday by sticking with the fourpacks, even if I give away some. But this place does take good care of plants, very pretty in their floral area.
Everyone around here seems to sell the same dozen tomatos more or less. Oh, but this place does have two of the new 'blue' tomatoes.
I did buy two Orange Blaze peppers, they seem to taste really good. Small fruit.
Plant it and they will come.

Sally, there is a new wholesale nursery in town called Tidal Creek growers in Davidsonville that many local garden centers etc use for their plants now . Might explain some lack of variety in selections.
