You might wait for a decision on Penny after her pups are gone, see the dynamic between her & Rosie then and get to know her better

That's a good idea; I will if I can. She's already separated from her puppies by puppy pens because the vet said no more nursing, and the puppies are all over her if they can reach her. They get to touch noses; that's it.
Still, it would be good to see whether Penny and Rosie play after Penny is completely better....I just don't know how long I'll have the pups and whether I can keep Rosie for a trial period after they go.

Unless they have another home lined up for Penny (doubtful for an adult dog), I don't know why you couldn't foster her for an additional period, especially if you're thinking of being her forever home.

Could she wear a kid sized t-shirt to protect / block her nipples and still have contact with her pups? Might need a dressing over the abscess, but I don't know why it wouldn't work.

I think it would would out perfectly for Penny if you kept her. She already has lucked out with you fostering. I am sure you will continue to get the needed weight back on her.

I think we've been de-ducked by two legged coyotes' . I went out to feed our little flock yesterday and they were all gone, vanished, wings, and feathers all. Being basically flightless I'm sure they didn't "flew the coop". They do have some value as breeding stock, approximately $30 each and there were 7 of them. I guess "no duck" is better than "bad duck".

That's terrible! Two-legged coyotes indeed! So Sorry for your loss, Ric and Holly.

How awful that they were taken. Hopefully that's a bit better, though, than them being dinner for a 4-legged critter. Were you away when they went missing?

Rosie's a little taller than Penny, and (ahem!) "large-boned", but the sad truth is that Penny is still really skinny. She's doing much better though!

Susan, both dogs are very pretty. The pup is adorable of course.

Nothing much new except my days would be longer without my daughter's Missy and my Charle.

JB, so glad you have their company, and happy also that they have each other! That enclosure is perfect.

A long overdue update....my previous foster, Penny, found a perfect home with a young, active family as soon as she was ready for adoption. It was such a great situation for her that, even though I was sad to part with her, I felt good that she would be people that would fully appreciate her energy and playfulness.

Here are some pics of my new "family"....Mama Primrose and her 8 pups, with My Little Pony- themed names Patch, Paws, Pearly, Philomena, Pick-a-Lily, Pinkie Pie, Pipsqueak and Posie.
