Dear Neil, I am quite certain that this could not happen to only you! We all have our very, very trying moments, but I believe that the best solution is to turn it into a *reality show*. Tony and I do this often in the face of adversity... it goes like this: contestants must now find a way to make the water stop spewing while still trying to plug the hole, and find the correct screw to fix the leak. (With one hand still trying to stop it up).

This approach adds some humor (and often ingeniousness) to an otherwise stressful situation. I highly recommend it!

Dear Brenda, in theory that seems like a good idea! But what happens as in this case the water is scolding hot!
Have a great Day,
Neil & Sarah.

Dear all, it started to snow last night and has not stopped since although it was light. Now it is getting heavy. Muriel is up north and they have suffered badly and indeed still are. Now it is our turn to get a bit as well.
Here is one of my Tree Ferns this morning, the snow has got a lot heavier since then!
Keep warm and safe.
Regards.
Neil.

Hello
Yes it does look pretty, but o so cold, even our Christmas market has been cancelled for the first time since takeing place up at the Castle and surrounding streets, it is international, with at least 500 stall, it came over on tv news this morning, my cousin was going to come to us this weekend by coach, but now not able to come, yesterday we heard that some coach firms had cancelled, the trips, and hotels and quest house were getting cancellations, so a lot of money for the city will be lost as well as resturants, and other shops and funfair that comes as well, it is lovely all the stall holders dress in victorian or edwardian costumes.
Carols being piped through everywhere, Cherie, WINE, plus Muled Wine, beers, continental foods, hot chestnuts and more.
WE used to go up on the Thursday which is start day 16:30 and can take hours to go round all the stalls, then approx 20:45, if coming down Steep Hill the Catherdral bells peel so lovelly it does make you feel Christmas is just round the corner. But because it is hilly round the Catheredral and Castle , for health and Safety it had to be cancelled. The event last for 4 days, with usually from Friday to Sunday coaches coming in from all over the Uk and abroad.
We have had a lot more snow since sending the pictures this morning.
Take care.

Cherie,
I started saving with Parks Christmas Club so all was paid for by the end of August, as Peter is a minx for looking around, I leave his present to the last minute, I know you will think me daft, but I have bought present from the cats to Peter.
Next week my Christmas order will go in to our local butcher (6 Generations), you pay bit more for the meat or poultry but you know you are getting good food, they are also a Bakers as well, I used to work there in the Bakery, they also do a Christmas club so have been paying into that as well, will top it up over the next two weeks, then I know Christmas will be all paid for.
Love Muriel

I buy Sarah's cats some catnip mice for Christmas, as the chance of them getting off the sofa and doing anything is very rare, so it it is about as close as they will get to a real one.
Phoenix gets her favourite which is sme nice warm Goose and gravy served by me, and a stroke for a good years hunting.
p,s, We had even more snow, now look at my Tree Fern!

They all enjoy any treats (of the food kind) but cats do enjoy the catnip also.
Stange wonderful critters.

Charleen , Peter is my Husband, presents are from the cats to him, but we think we will buy them some more white mice toys, they go mad playing with them, but the mice are looking a little worn out now.

Dear all, sorry I have not been on here as much as I would like. The weather has been awful here as some of you may know, the ice being the worst problem at the moment. It has melted in places where the Council has bothered to grit the main roads and the pavements. Which is about time as they were lethal and indeed still are on the side roads, as they have not been gritted at all and neither have the hills. They have not emptied the Wheelie bins\Garbage as the lorries could not get up our road, and the bins had frozen solid. I have looked after my neighbour and his wife is back now from Hospital, although he has acquired a taste for malt whisky! Old John across the road from us had his electrics go wrong so he had no heating and he has no telephone, so I sorted that out for him. The lady next door who grows the Orchids wanted some cat food and shopping as she could not get out. Plus there has been a mass shortage of things, apart from my Homemade bread and soup!
I do hope you are all alright and well, as I have been a bit busy!
Regards to all.
Neil & Sarah.
p.s. A mad Cyclamen that has gone from one side of my mothers border to the other. They get everywhere!

My friend in Winchester wife, Mrs Hall took this picture of her back garden with the first of the snow to hit them. She has most kindly allowed me use the picture on my cubits.
Winchester in the snow!

This is snow joke! The first time I have managed to get out in the garden, only to find this damage. My Canary Island date Palm Phoenix canariensis with a rather broken bit after getting hit by the snow. The weight on the branch has also snapped the washing line and collapsed my Clematis armandii into a Chamaecyparis pisifera 'Boulevard'.
I dread to think what else I might find! Two of the above plants are said not to be Hardy in the UK, the palm and the evergreen clematis are said not to like the cold. Has anyone told my ones that?
Luckily my Australian Bottlebrush is OK, and they are not supposed to be hardy either. Surprisingly the two Olive trees in pots on the left are fine, how strange!
It is still bitterly cold and it is going to get worse again over New Year, not any more please!
Now we have freezing fog as well, oh what fun!
Regards.
Neil.
