But just think of all the splender you will be seeing in the spring! And then we all scurry to get a whole new batch of irises ordered, beds made, and irises planted. And the beat goes on! Hilarious! Whistling

It has even been dryer than usual in Maine; but today has been a nice, warm, gentle rain that is still coming down.

I have 7 sent, herbaceous plant orders circling in Postal limbo. One came back for no reason today. I was amazed at how the Siberian irises had gotten big and fat at the base with lots of new roots! The Bishops Weed was putting roots right through its wet wrappings. I thanked God for the rain as I replanted the distressed order. It had been a week all packed up. Greenery on the other items was dismal, but the roots are fine. Those Siberians are tough!

I wonder what went wrong at the Post Office. Only orders sent in the afternoon are goofy. Hmmm. So guess who is going to be out in the rain re-sending 7 orders! I am still grateful for rain - and that eBay has seller protection. I won't lose money on new packing and postage.
Don't make fear based decisions.

Wait, I was a rose nut before I was an iris nut.... So does that mean I'm a "double nut"? Ha-ha :). (I don't know how to add the icons that are at the bottom) I live north of Marilyn, Jan, and Rob and yesterday it was 102 here!

Wow Barbar, 102 degrees! It's 40 here this morning. I hope the sun shines today and dries things out some. I have lots of irises to dig. Also it would be nice to be able to be outside for the Bar B Q tonight.

Can you have a small camp fire also Tom? I have a Harvest Gathering in late October every year and sometimes around midnight it sinks into the low 40's or upper 30's and being able to sit around a big fire keeps everyone happy. Either way, your bar-b-q sounds like its going to be great fun.

Yes, we will probably have a large fire going, as I have a bunch of brush to burn, and I can keep it going for quite a while, as long as it doesn't rain we'll be OK. Today I make the cheese cake, and braize the ribs. I looked in the garden and saw a jillion tomatoes that need to be picked. It's supposed to rain today, as in 90% chance of rain, so it most likely will be raining again. Better today then tomorrow. Just wish I could send the rain to some place that needs it.

Jan, I saved 3 garbage cans of emergency rain water if we get down to everything drying up. So far our water is holding out, although the little creek is down to a trickle. We're still able to fill the tank, although it takes 2 days instead of overnight. The filter is getting plugged more quickly and needs to be cleaned 2-3x a day... which is a hike up the hill. If we make it through the end of this month, I think even the lawn will survive (the parts we've been watering). Our tanks are too high up on the hill for a water truck to deliver unless they have really long hoses. We'd have to put in another tank... Crying

Cheesecake Tom? are you having a party?? any special occasion? Hilarious!

Sherry, the water tank guy came yesterday. He's getting water from somewhere on the coast.
We have 2 tanks - a 2700 gal. and a 1300 gal. It'll cost between $500 and $600 he said, because he has
to use his really long hoses. Our tanks are up the hill too. Gravity fed lines. He'll be back on Tuesday.
Hoping it will carry us through until the rainy season...if we have one. Crying

mmmm...cheesecake!

Wow Tom, Sounds like you have quite a gathering planned!! I love cheesecake! I make a pretty good cheesecake myself! As the Mary Ann said...I wish I lived closer!! Ooooh cold weather and a fire sound so good!. It's supposed to get to 103 today and tomorrow, 102 on Sunday, then gradually cool to 93 on Thursday before it begins to head back up. I guess Summer is not quite done with us yet!!

Keep the stories of your lovely fall weather coming guys...we can enjoy it vicariously...and be reminded that eventually it will cool down! Smiling

BBQ sounds great Tom! Just don't catch your pink tutu on fire! Hilarious!

It's supposed to cool down to low 90's-upper 80's next week.
