Most peonies will tolerate frost and minor freezes except when the flower buds are swollen and ready to open. I assume, in Georgia, lack of coldness is a larger problem than not having the cold temps. You may be priming for a banner year with your peonies.

Thanks for letting me know Jerry Smiling We do get pretty cold here, and have many nights below freezing, which has helped give my peonies the chill time they need to bloom.

We were colder than normal for weeks in November, now we're warmer than normal recently. We've been know to get snow and ice events as late as the end of March.

I really don't expect the growth showing on the new peonies to survive. When I planted Cheddar Surprise in the fall 2 years ago, it started growing during the winter, but that stem didn't make it. It did put up new growth the following spring.
