Yes they are. And yes -- they never reach their full size when growth is interrupted by cutting and vasing. On the other hand -- small beats frozen any day!!

When I posted this picture some of you were asking if this was true to color. Yesterday I saw a second bloom that was not quite open. Here is another photo that I know the bloom is one day old.

Karen Jones (previously posted on this thread on 11-10-14) age of bloom was unknown at the time the photo was taken.

Karen Jones photographed today with one day old bloom.
I think the white on the bloom looks a bit dirty in person but the blue makes up for it.
I there are 5 increases on it! Hurray!

A very nice blue color. I think I need that one too. Oh my, the list grows. Hilarious!

I just got back from vacation last night. This morning during my 'walkabout' I was greeted with more blossoms on White Reprise, 2 stalks developing on Autumn Thunder, and a slew of flowers and buds on Fire On Ice! That one has really impressed me...it has been blooming non-stop for over a month and is still loaded with stalks and buds!

The only reason I have not shared photos is that it is in an area where I have a serious snail problem...yes, still....that I have not had time to remedy. Even though the flowers are chewed I guess I'm going to have to share photo...I can't believe how many buds are on it! I'll try to get one posted tomorrow...I'm a little swamped with things that need to be done today!

I finally got out to take some pictures.

Autumn Thunder is just about ready to open...maybe a day or two, depending on the weather.

Genteel is sending up a stalk:

And Fire on Ice is going gangbusters!

Here is a picture of the stalks with all the buds. Some of the stalks are deformed...at first I thought it was some kind of pest damage...but if you look in the next picture you will see a normal stalk on the left and some crazy looking ones on the right. Does anyone have any idea who this might have happened? (Note this set of photos was taken a few days earlier)

Did you have a cold snap while the stalks were forming? It can be felt.

Marilyn, I've got a goose neck stem on an Iris that shouldn't be blooming now. I had some in the spring that I attributed to the freeze we had last December, but I'm clueless. That stem you've got is whackadoodle. Blinking

There are so many buds developing on them that it's taken forever for them to get to the point of blooming. Crazy! In looking at the photo again, I think the stem that is normal is a newer one...and the others that are deformed all started growing around the same time...so maybe there was something environmental that happened that I just didn't notice?
