I think that re-bloomers can and do demonstrate a clustering effect of buds on a stalk. My Feedback blooms normally in the spring, and can have cluster-blooms in the fall. I've never noticed that it follows any change in temperatures -- but it could have, and I just didn't notice. Shrug!

So you've seen a similar 'cluster bloom' before Mary Ann? (Personally Tom I'm kinda liking the aliens theory! Hilarious! )

That's what it looks like to me, also, Marilyn. Quite often happens, here, on some cultivars

Thanks for the input. I'm glad to confirm it's not a flaw in the iris itself. Since it's such a good re-bloomer I'd like to keep it. Thumbs up

I have had as many as 23 buds on Earl of Essex.....one stalk of Earl of Essex ! They were so tightly stacked on the stalk, they couldn't open properly. As MaryAnn said, the spring bloom is always OK, but fall stalks can be crowded with buds, are often 'twisted', or "goose-necked", and often , lay right on the ground (possibly because of the weight of the buds ?!?). Distorted blossoms, twisted stalks, and un reliability of bloom aside....I do love them re bloomers !!

Back in the 80's I worked for the City of Palo Alto Utilities Dept as a meter reader. There was a woman named Marilyn Monroe who walked around town with a tin-foil hat. One of my co-workers introduced me the the word "whackadoodle" in reference to her.
I don't know why I remember that, and can't remember what I had for breakfast... Hilarious!

Thank-you, you have brought back some fun memories....When I lived in Los Angeles I had a co-worker who would say Hollyweird instead of Hollywood. I think he would like the name whackadoodle too. No offense to anyone *Blush*

On the radio this morning they said we have got 11.something inches of rain this season so far ( normal is 8 inches ). Hurray!

So glad CA is getting rain. I hope it gets it in amounts that are good for everyone.... no drought, no mudslides, no flooding, just good stuff. It is hard to go from an extreme condition to an emergency one.

You're so right, Bonnie. I feel for those in CA who've gone from wildfires that denuded the hillsides, to
rain and mudslides from the lack of vegetation.
So far, the rain has just been a blessing in our little valley. Smiling

And it was only planted 2 months ago! Thanks for the super grower Greg! Hurray! I tip my hat to you.

Yep, waaaaayyyyyyy back I had a bloom stalk. Last night it got to this stage:
Thumb of 2014-12-13/Lestv/9c10d4

And today it bloomed. Hurray! My little chimera of a tall bearded actually bloomed!!! And it must know my love of the Japanese iris form because it is not the Again & Again you all know so well!
Thumb of 2014-12-13/Lestv/fec94c

I took the pic outside for better light, but it has been growing in a vase for the last 2 weeks. It's my little rebloomer and I love it's non-"standard" form. Whistling
