I think we have higher temperatures, but they have higher humidity. I'll take Texas. Smiling

Are you all dissing NC? My my.

We do have higher humidity than Texas, and clay soil, but my iris are still alive and well. The rhizomes adapt over time I noticed. Big fat rhizomes will shrivel a bit, and over time become thinner and more enlongated. Any of you who got Acoma from me this year probably noticed the rhizomes are enlongated and not round and fat. This is an adaptation that allows dissapation of heat and decreases surface area making them less likely to rot. And I am sure some of my iris will do better than others in this climate. Time will tell. The plus is we have mild winters, and with the leaves off the trees, the new spring growth has lots of sunshine to help it get started earlier than up north. The minus is that very late bloomers in full sun don't last very long after they open because the heat wilts the bloom. My Louisianas, Dutch and Japanese iris have had no problems.

I can't believe there's a grower I haven't found before online.. They seem to have a lot of older re-bloomers. Saw this one and thought of you, Arlyn.

Looks like they're in the Sacramento area code..

Also, today a friend who has a wholesale nursery in stopped by on her sales rounds. She left me with an availability list, and I was pleased to see three-quarters of a page of Iris. TB's, SDB's, louisianas, sibiricas and ensatas. She's got mostly re-bloomers in the TB's- all potted up. I think I'll help support her through the slow months and buy some Iris! Rolling my eyes.

They have a unique SDB pictured for Eyebright. I wonder what its name really is?

I was out cleaning up my plants today. Immortality has put up a bloom stalk. Chances are we will have another freeze...but it's nice to see it trying!
