I agree It is just so very pretty.

Don't know how I feel about those Coyotes though. I would be terrified for my little dog if we had them. And wolves.

I love to watch nature shows on Wolves and Coyotes but we don't have any so that is as close as I get.

Thanks Linda! I still can't believe how lucky I am!

Here's the fog, on the other side of the house, looking toward the river.

Cross posted with you, Rita. I agree about small dogs, and that was why we couldn't keep Mom's little dog Polly. It wasn't safe here for her, even with the fence. Haven't seen the wolves in a long time, but they scare me more than the coyotes, because of their size.

I like that ! You have a variety of weather, so boring here. Shrug! That looks like quit a drop off beyond the fence. Blinking

I would not be able to live there because of that drop off. Give me nice flat, level land and I am happy. Hilarious!

EDITED TO ADD: Well, maybe some gentle rolling land. That would be okay, too.

Yes, seems big dogs are best for your area. I do know that you really loved Polly but too dangerous for her.

I miss Polly every day, but she has a wonderful home, and is safe. That is all that matters. I get pictures of her, so I'm happy. Lovey dubby

It does drop off out back! The flat part you can see below the drop off is the utility easement. We're very thankful for that easement, since it would stop anyone who slid down the hill! Beyond that, it really drops off. It's more of a cliff than a slope. The drop-offs don't bother me in the least though, especially now that the fence is up. I'd hate to think what could happen if I was sleep walking! Blinking We do have a nice big pasture/field to the west of the house, and another one out front, above the trees, so we have a lot of land that can be used. Not so much on the back side of the house, but the rest is great. I like it that it drops off out back, because it gives us a great view of the river.

We were more concerned about the land than the house when we decided to move here. This was the only house that we looked at on the inside, because the rest had little to no usable land. I'm sure that some of the houses were nicer than what we bought, but with most of them, the only flat area was where the house was. No use having land if you can't use any of it! I think we did good, and the house isn't bad either!

Thanks for the photos & the video Natalie, I enjoyed them both!

I think Natalie's place -- the house AND the land are wonderful! We did mol the same here choosing the land more than the house however I will say the house does really "fit" us in almost every way.

Debra, I have the same problem you do with the empty space & falling. I don't truly have a fear of heights but a fear of that empty space thing. Of railings giving way etc.... I can get on a roof but can't move around on it & someone has to help me down. I was up on the walkway around our lighthouse many, many times but could not go lean on the railing you see there. As long as I stayed back near the wall of the light house I was fine.

And looking at this map, you can see how much you can see from up there, the river has so many forks etc... If you look at the fork that goes north parallel to the ocean & just before the bridge that crosses the waterway there; that's where all through my school days we had a big rope swing & you would swing out over the water & let go. It was great fun! Of course now, no one is allowed on that property at all except for Lighthouse tours & the Coast Guard who has a station there.

Imagine being a kid & growing up there when it was just a small town. We had a blast running around enjoying & learning about & living in nature everyday.
Sorry, I got lost in reminiscing.

Its supposed to get much colder tomorrow and Thursday. Winter for sure. I can't understand how those people in Times Square can stand being out there for so many hours.

Battery socks. $200 a pair, but supposed to keep toes warm in the most frigid weather. So says the advertising, at any rate. Big Grin

Given the mild temperature today (51 right now), went to the store. Have to make sure I have cornbread and ham (deli sliced but still ham) to go with the black eyed peas for New Year's Day. Big Grin Big Grin

I bought Mom some battery socks one year for Christmas, and I can assure you that I paid nowhere near $200! I can't remember the price now, but the most I would have spent would have been $20. She was always complaining about cold feet, and never did again after getting those socks!

It's 27 out, but 17 with the wind chill. Too cold for me to be outside for anything, and it is just going to get colder over the next few days. Thumbs down
