I might be fooling myself, but from what little info I can see, they might just make it here, especially as dry as our summers have been lately. Lucy, do you know of some that do better on the east coast than others? I could do seed.

You have to get the seed. We don't grow them, too difficult here. If you are dry, you might try spuria, although they would not like summer rain.

Sheryl,

Anything is worth a try, right?

Maybe someone on here will have some seeds, I don't know if Dee keeps any seeds or not.

But if not, here's some sources:

LOL.

But look too at some of the Louisiana Irises. I think they look very similar, some of them, but they're much taller. And they should do well for you.

Mmm mmm - they are gorgeous, too. My only concern is the moisture thing.... there's been a number of summers here where it hasn't rained for a month +. So I've been leaning towards planting things that are a lot more drought tolerant, especially as I like to leave town for a week or so in the summer and my house-sitter isn't exactly a green thumb.

Louisiana Iris, I have mine in a Bog. That way you wouldn't have to worry so much...

My Bog is really one of those rubber feed troughs , I had gotten mine for my old horse, he needed a special feed.
So My Sam's feedpan is now a bog.

Oops, we cross posted. Yes, you may have to divide them up, or put them in a larger container. Or maybe take some out and put them in the ground.

I just wish they bloomed longer.
