I went to it a couple years ago and it was insane - so many plants and people...so little time and money! It's nice being indoors so you don't have to worry about the weather. Bring a wagon!
Of the 2, I'd pick Dancing Oaks over Garlands. D.O. is kinda spendy but they have a lot of interesting plants and a wonderful setting. Garlands is nice because it's so huge - it's sort of like Al's (for those who have been there).
If we go to Dancing Oaks, we need to take sack lunches.
If it's on Friday there is no reason we couldn't go to both D.O. and Garlands. But definitely D.O.
Sunday is Hortlandia?
Wild Mountain Thyme also sold Pacific Coast Native irises and they are fused in my brain!
Wild Ginger Farm sold mail order until last spring but now it is all on site sales or plant sales. Hopefully they will go back to mail order as they have some neat stuff, especially the PCN irises and gentians.
I have many plants from Wild Ginger Farm. They will be at Hortlandia. Bet you could go through their online catalog and order and have them bring them to Horlandia.
Okay, so far we all know that Sat. April 18th is the day for the clinic and Robert's Crossing.
Sunday is Horitcopia, and it's looking like Dancing Oaks for Friday.
Ofm, if you can't make it to the clinic, maybe we can meet up at Horticopia? Does your wife like gardening/plants. I would be willing to help entertain/educate the little ones if both of you came?
If you can't make it the clinic weekend, you are close enough to make a visit to see the semps. Salem is just 42 miles from Portland. There are plenty of nice parks for the kids if you want to be dropped off while they play. Toby came last year and his wife did the same with their brood!
My wife isn't much for plants...yet! (I hope ;) ).
We've done day trips to Salem in the past....but we're still adjusting to sleep deprivation and the new family size... everything is foggy . So. We'll see come April, fingers crossed!
Toby's wife took the kids to the parks to the play and gave Toby a couple hours to talk semps with me. There are quite a few just up the road, either just for walking or a full playground with forts and all.
I also have two open house days where I open the garden and serve refreshments, one during the daffodil bloom and one during the iris bloom. As Lynn can tell you the food is pretty good too.
