Those are lovely! I really love the clematis. I have a couple, but they aren't prolific bloomers yet.

Both those kinds have a good reputation for lots of blooms. Ofcourse it also depends how big the roots are. Madame JC was bought at MamaJack's Donahue"s co op last year, so that is a good show for the little lady.

Now, that I know you can be! They are the sleep, creep, leap vines. I try to remember to give fertilizer in early spring and that helps.

No, I think they just like to farm the aphids.....! i'm very close to ending their run on my garden. I have ants in nearly all my pots. I understand if you get rid of the ants, you get rid of the aphids...
I thought ants just liked the sweetness of the buds and did no harm to peonies...
That's a gorgeous daylily!

I'm finding the bees are cross pollinating the Augusta and it's new blooms are pale blue. It happens each spring...then again in late fall. The rest of the summer, it stays white.

Hmm! Well, my Scarlet Penstemon and the other native, Fox-Glove Penstemon cross, but it's their seed that makes the cross in the new plant. I think this is one of the cross-pollinated plants.

Well, it's a mystery....'cause mine start out white...then the bees come and the newer blooms appear pale blue. As the summer drags on, I cut it back...and then when it cools a bit, the first new fall flowers bloom white...but gradually, as those are followed by new blooms, the new ones are pale blue...! I just attributed it to the bees...
