The location of the growth strongly suggests a scape, patience Fiat. Green Grin!

Ok, it does look like a scape all right (no new leaf seen though). One thing I am starting to worry: did anybody notice that big grey circle under its neck? (at center bottom in yesterday pic and right bottom in today pic) Is that some kind of mutate or defect? Any thoughts?

That darkened circle is a wound from when the bulb was dug up, It looks as if there is some surface decay on it, but it shouldn't be a problem. After it blooms, if that decayed area is of concern you can peal off the layers, all around the bulb, down to clean tissue and sprinkle ground cinnamon on the newly exposed tissue.. Cinnamon is a natural antiseptic and is fairly effective on fresh wounds on bulbs, not as effective on old wounds which is what you have on your bulb. I wouldn't do anything right now, since pulling up the bulb and messing with it will slow down its progress towards blooming. A month from now, if that wound doesn't look any worse, the bulb will probably be fine.

Hi Fiat, as long as that gray area is not spreading or not getting mushy or starting to dent any of your new growth...then just let it be..it looks dried up already. Just do as Barbara suggested later on.

Thanks, Barbara & Tarev. If the wound spot was caused from dug up, should I make a report/complaint to ETG? I feel bad that they would send defect bulbs to customers.

Hi, Surprises and problems? as on day 41:

Peacock's long leaf: (I found one long leaf lie resting on the tip of the scape, so managed to make it sway off the scape but land on the rim... not a good sighting Sad But is it ok?)
Thumb of 2014-12-04/fiat/0c5048

3 more new growth (hiding) between the two earlier leaves (all leaves I think): now there are 7 leaves and still one scape

The only scape growth still shows a bit more yellowish-green instead of shiny fresh green? Wonder if it virus infected (according to this forum Moderator)?

It looks OK. As photosynthesis ramps up, the scape should darken. Perhaps Samba has lighter foliage than does the Peacock. Your Peacock looks great. I wouldn't worry about the leaves falling over. The vase does a good job of supporting the growing foliage.

Correction: there are 4 (instead of 3) more new leaves growing from between the 2 earlier leaves. The peacock is really vigorously growing and looking like a growing war between the mother and the baby (one at side with two long, fall-over leaves) -- eventually, the baby is now slowing down and over-grown by the mother! Guess the mother might have decided reducing resource supply to the baby and concentrating more to its own growth (6 leaves and 1 scape). I don't blame the mother though, but do hope it gives another scape later. Oh, As Barbara mentioned ok and may not be necessary, I use a skate to hold up the fall-over leaf any way. Thinking I'll need more skates later though... and it could be a challenge to hold up the scape later since it's right at about the center and the bulb is so big that placing a skate straight up at side of the bulb may not catch the stalk! Confused

From the pic (WFF) below, I do find the bud of Samba looks like more pale/light colored and the stalk more reddish-colored than the fresh green leaves. The pale bud part has matched my observation on my Samba so far. The stalk part is yet to be seen and confirmed later.
