Not for long if I don't give them something to live in. Not much going for them in the original pots. Since I have to bring them in for the winter, I'm thinking of planting those with this one

in this. What do you think? Will they compliment each other?

That is such an awesome piece of glass Faye. Does it have a drain hole? And how deep/large is it. I know Topsy Turvy gets some size to it and will need room for roots to grow down in order to anchor the top of the plant. I'm not sure how your Tippy grows?

Thank you Lynn. the beauty of the glass is the reason I wanted to use it. you are right, no drainage and I would be sure to drown it. guess the Swan will have to go back on the top shelf until I can find a use for it.
I'll just leave "Tippy" in the pottery and hope it can swim. *Blush* Probably should put in something else, but I have so much of the Roseville pottery and would like to use it instead of having it behind closed doors. I think before I run out to get another baby, I'll consider more carefully their winter home.

What you can do is leave plants in the plastic nursery pots and just slip them into your containers. That way when it's time to water you just take them out, water, let drain and put back into your lovely Roseville. Same with the swan, only it would have to be smaller type plants than Topsy Turvy. : ) You can even use moss to hide the plastic pots. Thumbs up

Mini Blue Chalk Fingers is cool. And your swan piece is so pretty. I was thinking the same thing Lynn said - to just leave them in the plastic pot and put the pots into your containers.

I agree That swan is to beautiful not to make a center piece of.
This is a really easy one to indoors through the winter.

Thank you all so much. The only problem with leaving them in their original pots is....ok, I'm the problem. Those pots are so tiny my babies don't have growing room, and hardly any soil.Thinking cap on Sticking tongue out I'll just check my stash and come up with pots just a tad larger with holes that will fit the swan planter. Yeah right...another pipe dream.

Anyway, it's a good idea and I'm out to try! Back later.

OK, I'm back. Scored zero in finding something that would be the right size for the Swan and at the same time give the babies growing room...just didn't work. So determined to find them a pretty home. this is what I did.
Thumb of 2011-08-13/dahtzu/eb98ef, poor little things, just tossed them. (to be re potted )
