I found this tree growing in a swamp this summer. It was located in about 2 feet of water along with other aquatic vegetation such as cat tails, reeds and scrubby willows. When I hiked that area today (Oct. 12, 2014) its foliage was like fire in the sunlight. It is Drummond's maple (Acer rubrum var. drummondii). I did some research about this remarkable tree, and posted some comments in the data base back in October. Drummond's maple
I am a strong believer in the simple fact is that what matters in this life is how we treat others. I think that's what living is all about. Not what I've done in my life but how I've treated others. ~~ Sharon Brown

Beautiful banner Leon! I really love the autumn foliage that y'all get in the northern zones. My thoughts and prayers are with those in Buffalo N.Y. and other locations that are getting so much snow. I hope everyone stays safe and warm.
... off to the database to read more about the gorgeous Drummond's Maple!

This is one of the brightest reds that I can recall seeing.
It's almost as red as the one on the Canadian flag!
But the orange ones and yellow ones are nice too. Our
autumn season was just too short to enjoy them all.
