yesterday I made Mac Donalds chicken nuggets to see if Ava would eat them since they are the only ones she will eat. it was a pain in the butt to make and now we will see if she will eat any.

I am (sorta) glad to hear that sometimes fabric just smells no matter what you do. I thought it was me! I bought some towels when we were first married, I loved how they looked, but they smelled funny no matter what I did. Ditto for some fabric grocery bags I bought. They just have a little funk to them.

I have those giant plastic shopping bags that if I fill them up to much I can't carry them into the house. Hilarious!

One of my favorite cartoon jokes show a guy nailing closed the top of a big box that is filled butter, bacon, eggs, cold cuts, alcohol bottles etc. and over the radio the announcer says " the surgeon general has just announced that hammering nails into wood is dangerous to your health. πŸ˜ƒπŸ˜ƒπŸ˜ƒ

The warnings of bacteria on the bags is why I wanted washable. They're unbleached cotton and even though I've washed them over and over in hot water, they still smell like old rope.

We have a big Fleet Farm store here, and all the fabric items you bring home from there smells like rubber tires or feed of some kind. There are times when that never comes out, so it's a standing joke that we smell like tires, lol.

My crock pot is unquestionably the most under-used appliance in my kitchen, so I was very happy to find this recipe for pulled pork, which I modified only slightly from the original. I made this today for the Super Bowl game and it was delicious, as always!

Well, we just finished dinner. It got toned down to meat and a loaf of homemade (about an hour before dinner) artisan bread brushed with garlic olive oil and sprinkled with parmesan. I bought a rump roast as I thought it looked leaner. Cooked in my dutch oven for two hours. It was pretty dry on the more slender ends, very pink and juicy in the center. Not a tender cut by any means. I cut it against the grain as thin as possible. We decided to throw it into the slow cooker ajus and all. I made a sandwich out of it and it was really tasty. I really wish I had one of those meat slicers so you could get a nice uniformly thin slice, bread or meat. Maybe tomorrow I will make the potatoes and corn and have left overs. No way it will go to waste. Or waist either. Rolling on the floor laughing Rolling on the floor laughing

I have always wanted a slicer too, but where to store all that stuff!!! I use to do roasts like that for weddings, graduations, etc and I could take them back to the butcher cooked and he would slice them, but I doubt they would do that anymore. If I let the roast sit for 10 minutes or so, my electric knife does a pretty fair job. I am having sandwiches from that tonight along with an interesting sounding cole slaw recipe. We did a turkey yesterday just for extra meat, and I will make some soup today. I am taking some meals to a friend that had her knee replaced, so that will keep me busy today.
I am thinking of trying that same mixture with a pork loin roast, and changing a few ingredients. What do you think, Mary?? I do a pork loin with onions and apple juice concentrate that is really good. I love meats that have a sauce of some kind to pour over them.
I made another loaf of that grain bread yesterday, and that is so yummy when it's fresh. A stick of butter and that bread when it's warm---what else could you possibly want!!! I am taking a loaf of that, some strawberry basil jam, four soups, and some chocolate dipped shortbread cookies to my friend today.

I agree -- i've totally run out of room for small appliances, need to thin out the ones I rarely use! An electric knife works great for homemade bread, too -- especially when it's still hot from the oven Thumbs up

Oh doggone and drat Angry Grumbling

I just typed in a recipe for Asian pork Tenderloin . I was going to cut and paste it into word for easier future reference and it just went a way. CNTRL Z didn't get it back.
