This one is reblooming again. This time the snails or slugs didn't get it. This might be the last one. I don't see any more flower stalks coming up.

Kelli, do you know what your striped one is called? It reminds me so much of either moon scene or lipstick, which have the same markings , but also have a dark pink picote edge. I just finished a major relocation of an amaryllis bed: 48 bulbs were in full sun for 4 years. Each year, they looked a little bit worse than the year before and only 6 bloomed this spring. I pulled them up, none had rooted well, and replanted them in front of an established Amaryllis bed that is shaded until 2PM. The shaded bed has beautiful foliage and blooms well. I'm hoping that in a few years, the transplanted bulbs will establish themselves and return to a nice spring blooming. I've come to the conclusion that Amaryllis can't take a full day of Florida sun in the summer, an additional stressor may be the high humidity.

I think the striped one is a cross I made between Mead's strain and something I don't remember (but it wasn't Moon Scene or Lipstick, I never had those). It looks pretty much like 100% Mead's strain. The Mead's strain came with the house. I was told that it is probably Mead's strain. Mead's strain apparently isn't a cultivar name but a description.

Most of my plants get morning sun, up until 1 or 2PM. A full day of CA sun would probably be no better for them than a full day of FL sun. The bulbs have gotten huge and I have nice foliage all year.

I have yet another one blooming. I should have taken a picture this morning because the heat did it in today. There is still one bud left. (It is 104F today.)

It isn't quite open yet but I decided to take the picture now before the heat fries it. I also had a cactus bloom out of season but I missed the flower. It is a night blooming variety but the flower usually stays open until 9 or 10AM. Yesterday it was closed by 6:30. I think the hot morning did that.

Kelli - That is VERY pretty! Sorry to hear that the heat is shortening the bloom time for them.

Thank you. It's a bonus that I have any blooming this time of year so I just deal with the shortened bloom time.

'Double Picotee' is blooming again. I didn't take a picture because it looks the same as it did the last couple times. (See my last picture, for example. That is 'Double Picotee'.)

Kelli - I want to see another photo at maybe a different bloom angle than the one above. What does the side of the petals look like? I would like to see the picotee pattern on a petal, please, if possible. Smiling
