Thank you Ursula, Elaine, Ann and Anne! Smiling

And I promise! They do not cut like blades. Hilarious!

Go cut an aluminum drink can into a square with the sharp edges left. Dare to run a finger across the side lightly and then a tad harder. Do the same with the pointed edge. Unless extreme pressure is applied I'll bet one would be surprised. One little secret though...

A 1000 grit wet dry sandpaper run briefly when washing the parts is a plus before the finishes, and the metal primer and follow up coats of paints do the rest... Thumbs up I tip my hat to you.

dyzzypyxxy said:You must be very deft, David. I'm sure I'd be bleeding with Anne at the first aid station.

I kind of like the silver color on that. It's elegant. But . . . it looks a bit more like a Bat Flower with all those whiskers. Not many orchids I can think of with long stamens like that.

They're "Fantasy flowers" Elaine. Rolling my eyes.

I know, David, I know. I'm just a very literal person. Your first one really does have the form of an orchid though. This one, not quite so much.

What did you use for the whiskers?

Hilarious! Awe Elaine,

I knew you were just messing with me!

The whiskers are steel wire. When the paint goes on the Orchid will become clearer, yet, you are so right about it resembling a Bat Flower too. In fact, a fantasy Bat Flower in deep purples is next in my mind after Tiger Lil. The back side of Mr. whiskers is going to be really interesting.......You'll see!

Have a peaceful and productive New Year everybody!

Well its 2015!

Heres a hint at what the backside of 'Mr. Whiskers' will look like. His first primer coat is on and 'Miss Twinkle' is always in the back of his mind... Smiling

David, because of her color, you need to figure out a way to market this to LSU fans. They are "Purple-Crazy"! Whistling

Well now,.....The tiny dancer, 'Prima Dona Dellerina Polka Lola' whose name has been an inspiration from others, has been loosely created on the concept of a Lady Slipper. She is a part of a new and still developing fantasy Orchid Sculpture in the works featuring 'Mr Whiskers' as the centerpiece of course. 1 lady is missing....... Whistling

He is now flanked with the 'Dona' and 'Miss Iris Valentine' and 'Miss Tress Chanel'...........................................

The family is doing well, and 'Mr Whiskers' is in fact a very spotted 'Toad Orchid'. Its a fact!................................. I tip my hat to you. Hilarious!

They are Orchid like Ursula and Thank you much. I do grow real orchids but only the basic hardy types. I am not embarrassed by them as they bloom almost year round here, yet they would be common to most Orchid collectors. I probably have around 30 of these types. 'Moth Orchids' are so easy down here. I love them!

Nice blooms!
Those "basic hardy types" do give me trouble, I don't do that well with Phals and I would be very happy if they would bloom that nice for me!
Nice color on the reed stem Epidendrum.

I agree with Ursula! I'm in So. Cal, and for me Phals have to be a house plant, or they perish. The Epidendrons do thrive outside with no care though, as we rarely get freezing temps. If our drought continues, I'll be reduced to buying orchids from you, as I'm losing the real ones as fast as I can buy more. I love the work you have done with your ( not quite real) orchids!
