Well......I received an e-mail from Rick and Roger, pointing out the fact that I either "miss counted', had a "senior moment". or, possibly, I was subconsciously laying the groundwork for more iris ! I said I had ordered 12 from Superstition, when, in fact, I had only ordered 10, so, I guess that means I have "two coming", and I'll have to decide WHICH two I'll add to the order ! Seems like the only reasonable thing to do ! Sticking tongue out !
I'll agree, Marilyn, that 'shopping" from Matthew's list isn't the easiest thing......it's an 'old school" type of place, for sure......but, Charles has an amazing amount of iris....way more than he even lists! One big *downside* is that his list is quite out of date, and many of the listed iris are no longer available. When I order from him, I usually make my *order" list, then make "substitution" list (that's usually as long, or even longer< that the order !), and then list any that I'm "searching" for (even though they are NOT on his list !). He'll usually mail me a letter ,or two, as the season progresses, as to what he thinks he still has, or, ones he knows he has *lost*.....but I really don't know just what I'll be getting, for sure, until I open the box ! It's akin to the Christmas mornings I remember from my childhood ! You don't know for sure just what you'll be getting....but you sure as heck know you're gonna' like it ! He also has "steered" me towards some of the iris I have searched for ,through his connections in his local iris club......I would recommend that anyone interested in growing iris....especially "older" cultivars....send for his list....there are some amazing treasures in it !

I posted this one the Superstition thread so I know most of you have already seen it but this is such an enabling thread it needs to be added here too. nodding
When I emailed Superstition I asked for availability and prices so he included that too, need to keep track of my costs after all. Thumbs up
My Wild Iris Rows is about 20 minutes away from me, last year I emailed and they said they weren't open for guests, too much work for them but he comes to our local Farmer's market every Sunday bringing potted blooming iris. (edited to add the word 'My' to Wild Iris Rows as there are two nurseries using this name)

This is my order so far from Superstition:

and I ordered these from Blue J

I am wondering if anyone would have this to trade for this year.

Sue - I am confused. Wild Iris Rows is in Tennessee, and Greg Hester has his gardens open every spring. Is there another Wild Iris Rows in California?

That said, love your AB choices. Especially Oyez and Xerxes!

Looks like the "MY" version had some nice introductions. They haven't updated that site in a couple of years. Are they still selling?

I was wondering the same thing.

I also ordered Oyez. I saw it on another site where it was sold out, then saw that you had found it at Blue J Iris. Thanks Sue! Big Grin

Thanks Sue for adding the other Stout iris to the database, like Dragon Flamedart. Smiling

Leslie, I am gradually working my way back thru Stout as they added a few new shots this year, its slow going as I keep getting sidelined. Whistling
My Iris Rows still sells, just have not added any new intros. I would email them and see if prices are lowered for this year yet and if they are truly still shipping. I see him at our Farmers Market.

Hilarious! Hilarious! Sue!

I just placed another small order...this time with Iris Sisters:

I Got A Feeling

Style Traveller

Platinum Passion

Copper Clouds

So how am I doing so far? Nine of the 14 irises I have ordered were on my 'short wish-list'....which is roughly 2/3s off the list. So I am buying 50% more that what I had put on the list... not too bad....but I suspect that will go higher as the season continues! Big Grin
