Hope it works well for you Greg. I have come to think of sedum as the poor man's mulch. Here you can see some lily bulbs just popping up through a covering of sedum sarmentosum,

Susan that is wonderful. I can't wait to give this a try. Do you have much trouble with weeds coming through the sedum once it becomes established?

Not much of a problem. I do sprinkle Preen on once a year. Haven't done it in back yet where these lilies are and the only weed I found yesterday was one dandelion.

Daylilies don't seem to mind sedum under them either.

I love 'Cape Blanco', I would be removing what is encroaching on it. But that sure is a pretty combination. What is the other one Connie?

It is the one that you told me what it is but then we all forgot Hilarious! . It is a faster grower/spreader and a great groundcover if that is what is desired.

Here is a view off my patio to show what started as a 4" pot of the stuff. The carpet/wood on the left is just my winter/spring path to the compost bin. I will soon remove it as the weather gets dryer.

No, it was before I kept records (which I now do). But it would be some place like Freddies or Garland's. So it would be a grower that supplies them. I have never mail ordered. It might be more helpful if I post photos when it blooms and try to get some closeups.

Could it be sedum sedum sarmentosum Connie? That is what's growing round the lilies I posted above. My Mom called it golden teardrops sedum. Spread super fast.

Here is some sedum growing under dwarf butterfly bushes along my neighbor's driveway. It's sedum kamtschaticum, another one that spread very fast.

Susan, that may well be it, especially if there isn't another sedum significantly similar. I see a common name for it is Stringy Sedum. It certainly is like that as the season progresses.

I just took this photo.

Good call Susan on the Sedum sarmentosum. Hurray!

J.C., photos please. Is your clematis actively growing now? You guys are awesome with all these helpful hints on sedum use.

Oh Julia, what a very cool plant. I asked Zuzu for help in making an entry in the database. I'm not sure how the handle the register & patent names. It is a Petrosedum rupestre subsp. rupestre, not a reflexum (synonym for rupestre subsp. rupestre).

I love your Blue Magic J. C.!

If things continue going well with my lilies growing in the sedum then that's a good thing. Lilies also like cool roots but most like sun too and in our hot summer the ground gets pretty hot.

Lynn, my feeble brain tells me that is exactly what you told me it was, definitely sounds familiar. I just have a tuff time pulling it back out of my brain!

I just typed what was on the tag but didn't come from a sedum nursery. Thank you for asking Zuzu.
