It's been a very long time since I saw a Zebra Longwing! And even longer since I last saw a Julia. This summer is a tease...I'll start seeing a few butterflies occasionally...then nothing. In a normal summer, I'd walk outside and see them all the time! But that was before the drought and wildfires happened in Texas. Butterflies sometimes are like the canary in the mine, meaning they can be very sensitive to ecological disaster areas.

I am hoping to develop my little corner of earth into a breeding zone. Might take a couple of years and better winter weather but I am keeping my fingers crossed
I did get some pictures of the Pupae of the other butterflies, Not the greatest of pictures still learning how to take flash pictures
This dragon looking thing is a Zebra Longwing I think as it is the only one of these I have and there was only one of the Zebra's

Get a Black Swallowtail pupae, it is fresh so only get a quick picture will wait until it hardens some, but I had to get it inside quick or it would have been attacked by wasp like the other one I found
need help planning.
I am thinking on building a butterfly cage to raise a number of butterflies. The plan right now is 6ft by 6ft square. I will have enough fennel for Black Butterflies and enough milkweek for Monarchs and am looking for enough plants for a couple of mores.
what do y'all think.
Still working on the ideas for a butterfly house next year. Thinking on turning my shade house into a butterfly house but that would be a lot of cloth to cover.
