So beautiful Linda, I have never been lucky enough to raise a Tiger swallowtail, which plants do you find yours on? Smiling

My host plant is a sweet bay magnolia. My nectar plants change from year to year. My 2011 nectar plants were butterfly bush, pentas, lantana, canna, and parsley.

The Two-tailed Tiger ones have mostly been on black cherry trees and some on Arizona Ash in the last few years, also a few on Hop Trees. That's changed...in the past, they were mostly using Hop Tree, with a few on black cherry tree. Not sure why the change. Only had one Eastern Tiger this year...I think it was on Arizona Ash. I've released two more of the Two-tailed Tigers. Normally I'd be seeing some of those that I didn't raise, but I think it's only the ones I raised so far.

They ARE pretty...haven't seen any of those in a long time! Today I've seen a Red Admiral a couple of times. A little while ago it was perched on my Stinging Nettle, so I guess it might lay some eggs.

I just got a hop tree that I ordered from Mail Order Natives in Florida - hope I didn't wait too late to get it.

This one is not a butterfly but a green lacewing taking residence at my Verbascum bombyciferum plant. Said to be a beneficial insect too since its larvae eats aphids..but then it may also eat butterfly eggs & other insect eggs uh-oh..As it turns into an adult like this one it will just go for pollen, nectar and honeydew.
