Not enough yellow on the plicata SDB for Ruby Eruption, but it has kids.

John has a string mower (walking). He read somewhere that walking is good for older people & would rather do it behind a mower than dodging cars on the street. He doesn't do it all at once.

Nice birthday tractor. Sure wish I had the scoop to move my garden mix. But a tractor on a city lot might be seen as overkill. Hilarious!

My yard is small and there isn't much lawn left. I have a Worx 10" sweep rechargeable mower. It lasts about an hour and a half before needing a recharge. I love the small cordless machines. They are very light weight and no fumes! I use it more to make mulch than I do for grass. I mow my gardens down.

I wish I had a small enough yard for a cordless but I haven't converted enough grass into garden bed yet!

Mary Ann, Now that's a tractor I'd learn to drive! On ours, you have to bang something with a big wrench to get it started. It's old and funky.. A friend said they'd give me one of their riding mowers. Needs some work, but it's free. It would make mowing the orchard soooo much easier..

My photo of Ruby Eruption is faded looking, it actually does show a yellow background. That is unless the data base photos are wrong....

Mine came from Susan originally- from this plant:

Oh Sherry -- take the mower!! I couldn't do all the work I do here if I didn't have rider mowers. The tractor is taking over some of the harder mowing (pastures, barnyard, peripheral areas) that I used to try to do with the mower -- that kind of mowing can ruin a nice mower pretty fast.

You wouldn't have to "learn to drive" this tractor -- it's automatic, like a car. You put it in gear, then use one pedal to drive forward and a second pedal to drive in reverse. The only thing I've had to *learn* is to always make allowance for the front-end loader, which is quite a ways ahead of the front of the tractor. That can be a little tricky in tight situations. Is the mower that is available to you a *tractor type*? Or a ZTR (zero turn radius)? A ZTR would be more nimble in an orchard........

yes, the clump photo looks more like it.

Irises need planting here but John has been working on our deer defences & untangling a nasty vine from the Mountain Ash tree.

Now that I think about it, I gave mine that name after looking on the ATP plant list. Although I do add (L) to my name tag which indicates "like". After all, every iris needs a name, right?
