I bet those I.tectorum are gorgeous in bloom- a mass like that sounds spectacular! Mine sulked the year after thinning, which was last year, so hoping they're back on track this year. I put 3 clumps right next to the entrance side walk.

Hers are at the entrance of her walk to the front door. Glad you mentioned that they sulk after thinning. I need to give her a head's up not to worry!

Bonnie - when I first glanced at your bloom I thought it was a picture of fall leaves! I guess the coloring made my brain think of that instead of iris. It really is pretty though. How long have you had it?

Perhaps five years or more. Like I said I will have to go back to my paper records of iris purchases. I have only started keeping them on the computer for about five years.

Bonnie, your post above disappeared- was it a pic Leslie was talking about?

Yes. And I realized I used the wrong photo. Looking for the right one. Same iris.

I have been reading some of the older No ID threads and may have some clues or actual identities

On this thread

Bob on 19 Jan 2015 I'm pretty sure your #13 is Going My Way.

Neal on 20 Jan quite sure your right picture is Whoop Em Up.

Pat (Dragonfetti) 23 Jan top flower has to be a relative or descendant of Spinning Wheel. Checked children and the children of two children (Eagle's Flight and Everything Plus) with no success, but there would be others to check.

Barbara on 21 Jan #30 looks a lot like Mary Frances.

There's nothing more exciting than seeing a thread full of Iris photo's (especially for me who has 2 gardens full of 1st year rhizomes that haven't bloomed yet Sad ):

Tom - Your NOID Red is stunning. I would most likely creep in the night onto your property and dig up all the rhizomes! It's gorgeous!

Neal - You have so many Purple NOIDs that you posted that are so beautiful that I want them all,
and your Red Zinger is a show stopper!

Debra - Your Yellow NOID is gorgeous. It is the Perfect Yellow Iris for any garden.

Sherry - Your Crimson King is really nice. I just planted 2 rhizomes of this Iris and am looking
forward to seeing it bloom next Spring.

Thank you all for your great photo's. I really enjoyed looking at them all. Smiling

Charlotte, upon first checking the data base I thought you had it! Then I noticed the size, Whoop em up is a border bearded, and mine is a TB (which I don't think I mentioned earlier in the thread). Whoop em up looks like a perfect smaller version, and one I'd love to have!

Patrick, I've been entering all my irises into a data base and have been working on the no ids lately. It has been a challenge coming up with ways to distinguish the purples from each other, but that has had me really looking closely at the differences too, which is a good thing in trying to figure out ids. Red Zinger is a great looker and a great grower. I've got plenty to share if you come up with space for more irises.

Neal check your photo#3 (the plicata) for Ma Mie. I don't have one to send you to compare unfortunately but it is fairly easy to find.

Neal, I'll have to wait until next Spring to see what performs for me and what doesn't to determine if I have any new space that I can plant some new rhizomes. But I sure did plant
a lot of RED iris rhizomes this season, I don't know what I was thinking Crying Confused

What is the red iris in your avatar? That clump is really pretty. I know you are in to historics so it must be one.

Lucy, I was thinking that historic plicata is probably Swerti because of that distinctive curling under of the tips of the falls, making them look pointed. But looking at this years picture of it, the falls don't seem to be curling so much....so you may be right. It is a tall and graceful thing whatever its name- one I really love.

Neal I have Ma Mie. It does look like a maybe match. I can send you a test piece in the spring if you would like to check it. It is mixed in with another historic, so I can't guarantee you would get the correct one right now.

Neal,

Take a look at Fanfaron and if that isn't it, next year get us a closeup and approx height.

And there is an almost match for your 20 Jan "And there is this pretty thing, and as you see, I like trying to match up that bright beard." in Feudalism. Only the rim is practically non-existent on Kent's picture and not showing on any of the others.
