Lucy, you can copy your pink SDB seeding list, then highlight all the info on the copy and hit delete.. Name the new file whatever you want. It's easier than remembering how to do it... I've got it down now... but it wasn't something I did very often before... so i couldn't remember when I'd go back and try to do it. Of course it only works if you need the same number of columns Smiling

I would have to go back with your instruction in hand. If I do something like that again I think I will resort to graph paper & pencil. I have photos of my red amoena seedlings & can print them out if I have to.

This is off the forum subject but...Debra do you have Pacific Coast Iris growing already? I wanted to try them but not sure they would do well here in the desert. Where did you get your seeds, if I may ask?

No, Pat, will be first time for me. I joined the Society for Pacific Coast Native Iris in December so I could order from their annual seed exchange. It is an experiment to see what happens. Smiling

I've been trying to find a photo of this one, and this isn't a good one, but does convey the colors and form okay. Curious if any of you have seen anything like it? Its unusual in color, buff/cream and butterscotch gold, and its short for the size of the blooms, about 25-27" tops. Blooms at the beginning of TB season, and blooms heavily every year, no matter how neglected.

The standards appear more white in this pic, but they're really more beige-cream. There is a soft beige cast to the whole bloom.

I agree, it is beautiful. Have you looked at Protocol? It is an IB and reminds me of yours. The colors are like you described but if I remember correctly the falls, which have the same form as yours, have a narrow lighter edge. I will try and get a photo when mine blooms this spring.

I hadn't heard of Protocol til now, but after looking at data base photos and seeing it was introduced in '96, I believe this one is older. I believe it also has a paler edge on the falls, but I think the blooms on this are a bit less refined looking (than Protocol). I'll get some good pics of it this year to show bloom detail clearly. Several years ago I hosted a historic Iris swap, and I believe that's where this one came from, but the sender didn't know the name. Its such a great performer, and increases fast.

Mary Ann, your pics really look like a match! Are the blooms big for such a short plant? That's how I see these, TB size blooms on squatty plants. Could I send you a couple of rhizomes this summer to compare?

I just found pics from a couple of years ago of this NOID that was here when I moved in. There were a bunch of Irises right next to the house in a really shady area, and looked like they hadn't bloomed for some time. I had assumed it was shade keeping them from blooming, but after I had started digging in that area and unintentionally thinned them out a bit, they started blooming like mad! Whatever this Iris is, it is a great landscape plant- tolerates shade and competition and blooms heavily.

Gosh Neal -- I never looked at them that way, so I couldn't tell you how the size of the bloom relates to the plant. Confused They are short -- I can tell you that much. Shrug!

Sure you can send me a rhizome or two for comparison. Smiling I'm pretty sure that's what you've got though -- there probably aren't very many of that color in that size!! Smiling

Dividing & thinning them gives room for new increases. I'm glad that they stopped showing off.

Mary Ann, I thought the same thing, that it stands out enough that its probably identifiable. Awesome to have a good lead! I'll definitely send you a couple this summer Thumbs up

Lucy, these that are likely to be Honey Glazed are in major need of thinning. I was originally sent 3 rhizomes, and the following spring they looked like 3 clumps, the next year they merged into one big clump. Now they're practically growing on top of each other.

Sounds like a serious need to thin! I have a friend who has iris tectorum growing on top of each other. Plan to help her thin that all out after bloom time. Which is great because then I can plant some more at my house too. But it will be a major chore since it fills an area about 4 feet x 4 feet!
