Maybe this is a stupid question.......... but the other day I found an ad on Facebook that was put there by eBay.com and it was a picture of my plants I have for sale on eBay but when you clicked on it they were advertising a plant of another seller.
I do not know if they have small print someplace saying they can do it but I do know some of my photos are watermarked in different ways. I never thought any picture I had was ever good enough for anyone to use it other than me. I do not know the normal procedure about pictures and that is what I am asking...is there an unwritten rule or what? (I mean on the internet) I do not know who to ask other than you people that I trust will give me an honest answer.
FYI:
I contacted them and told them not to advertise another seller's plant (which was the same plant but a mature hanging basket) with my picture of starter plants. They took the information and I am waiting to hear what they are going to say about my complaint. I would guess somewhere in their small print (which I did not read) there is something to cover them when they do this sort of thing.

On the internet, basically, if you did not write or create the article, photo, etc that you found, then you need permission from the owner before you can copy it. When you use these type of items without permission, you are essentially stealing.

Thank you for your comments. @Dave that is what I was looking for and could not remember where to find it. Thanks so much. I went there to change my preferences and when I clicked submit it said my preferences were not available at that time to try again. Tried twice and still not available. Maybe they are working on it. I did notice they now have watermarked all my photos with my eBay name on it. Not sure I am happy about their choice of name but I can't do anything about it now. I will however make sure my watermark is on all pictures going to eBay from now on, plus I will call them regarding my preferences when I have another two hours.
Thank you again for all your help.
