Nice to still have some color.

Its getting mighty slim

So, I just wanted to share what's been going (growing) on in our shade garden. This first picture was taken on June 5th.





I planted some "guaranteed to grow in dense shade" grass seed. Here's what it looks like today!

What is the name of the seed?

I think it was somethink like "Pennington". I got it at Walmart. The bold lettering says "guaranteed to grow", and it was the dense shade mix. We are now trying their fall lawn mix in a more full sun area. I have been putting the sprinkler on it daily.

Oh Wow Brenda. What a difference.

I still have some balsam and snapdragon blooming in shade. But I guess I rely mostly on coleus there for some color.

Jo Ann, thank for your nice comment. Where in NY state are you? My family is in western New York, going to visit them next week!

Karen, your coleus is beautiful. Next year I am going heavy on the coleus in the shade garden, it adds so much color!

BTW, I haven't sown balsam in several years. I just let a few volunteers remain and grow every year.

Bob, yes, they are black walnuts, but I don't have too much trouble growing anything under them. Not even in the garden.

Brenda, gorgeous yard!! We planted Pennington this fall too! It came up with very little weed seed that we can see and we watered daily till it rained. Awesome coincidence!

DD is "tighter than bark on a tree" as they say.

I'm dazzled Brenda, it makes it look cooler, and neater, more comfy. I feel like I could walk barefoot, where before I would be afraid of rocks or dirty feet or something.... I go barefoot all the time, so dirty feet is not a problem ;)
