The Daylily forum Daylily database should be closed. Is that where you are entering them Betty?

EDITED to add, sorry I did not see that Polly was checking for you - indicating you were trying to upload to the iris database.

Betty, I use a Mac and Safari. I don't have any problems uploading images to ATP or Cubits. I recently upgraded to Lion, and was using Snow Leopard before that. Have you used Software Updater to see if there have been any Safari updates you have not installed? I think it sounds like a problem with your Internet connection or company. Shrug!

Betty, why would you need to upload to the Cubits iris database? Or are you trying to support both databases?

Yes, the Irises Cubit is staying over there and they are very proud of their database that they can control themselves, and they still want me to upload pictures over there too. And since Dave made a copy of their database for inclusion in this one, they are now going their separate way and continue to upload to theirs and are not supporting this one. So hopefully there is some way I can do one upload to accommodate both databases. I've been very vocal over there about trying to get them to move over here, but they won't hear of it. But at least I tried -- twice now!

Juli, I don't know what the problem is with uploading pictures over here, but it definitely is a problem for me. Our son and his Mac guru friend have been updating us, and Jason recently mentioned they plan to switch us over to Lion, but who knows when that will happen. I used to have trouble uploading over on Cubits for the first few months too, but then it just stopped and I've never had a problem since. But this problem reminds me very much of that former problem over on Cubits. I've gotten to where I can upload after just a few tries if I hit "Upload an Image" in threads with a glancing blow rather than landing on it, but it doesn't work in the database. Boy, it's always something!

Another thing we discovered is that entering photos in threads is not compatible between Cubits and ATP, which surprised Polly. I did a thread on Barry Blyth irises over here that had 26 or 27 pictures, and when I copied it over there all the pictures came out as question marks. So Polly is also checking with Dave on that. I've indicated to them that my primary interest now is the Irises Forum in ATP, so I want to post over here. People in the Irises Cubit point out that there is practically no one posting over here, which reinforces their decision to stay where they are. So I'll continue to do my thread/picture posting over here, and maybe some of them will start checking ATP more...

Betty, the only other thing I could suggest is have your Mac guy load up Firefox. It is free. I use Safari for 99% - especially since it will sync bookmarks with my iPad. However, I do use Firefox for those few things that don't "quite" work with Safari. I do know that this site is very compatible with Firefox. It would be worth trying just for troubleshooting. If you have no trouble with Firefox, then you know it's Safari that is the problem.

Did everyone see Daves Database Report thread this morning in the Database Forum?

The thread "A report for the last week's activity in the database" in Plant Database forum

It is wonderful, informantive and really encouraging to read these numbers. Plus its just great how he lets us know how we are doing. Hurray for a great job by Dave and a great job by ATP members adding to the Database. I tip my hat to you. Hurray!

I almost always end up with fractions. There are many ways to get fractions of an acorn but eventually they add up to another acorn Big Grin

I have been putting in pictures most days and the acorn pile gets larger. I have over 500 now. Still waiting to see what Dave will roll out that one needs acorns to pay for.
