On our way to the Bay Area over the weekend as we cross Altamont Pass, it was so nice to see so many puffy clouds in the horizon and the hills are back to their green mode. With the chilly overnights and the rolling fog there, the hills are happy once more, better green than that dull brown color. I thought it will try to rain, even a sprinkle..guess just have to be content for now for the cool temps and better humidity readings.

I call this 'invasive plants poster child'. Pampas grass and fountain grass are awful things to grow around here.

It has its unique appeal, but it does pose danger especially during wild fire season.

I have seen already how a crass mind and attitude remains after the election brouhaha settles down..in my old homeland, Philippines, it is experiencing that now, a daily barrage of crass talk and decisions from the leader of the land..just someone you cannot ever be proud and beholden to represent ones country; there is always fear now, what will his crass mouth bring the nation into.

So it is the turn of the land of the free and home of the brave...be very, very brave.

Yeah! I am really thankful we see this color changing view every Fall.
Right now the city trees on our side is still waiting it out. It had a real good drink during the rains of October so it is holding off much of its usual Fall leaf drop..still thick and green, the top part is very slowly turning yellow. My fall clean up is in abeyance woohoo!

Now...if another hot, dry Winter in SoCal does not appeal to you, it may be that you will want to come spend the Winter here with me...all that's required is that you bring with you ....

1. A woodstove....

2. A good supply of wood....

3. Certain plants from the list that I'm in the process of making.....

I have some Cerinthe seedlings coming up too. I had one make it through the winter last year and get huge. This summer I bought some different types from Plant World Seeds and they are blooming now. One is called "Rhubarb & Cream" and the other "Yellow Gem". Yellow gem isn't blooming yellow though, it's maroon. The "Rhubarb & Cream" one is really nice though. Hoping they will set seed, if not I saved about half the seeds in the pack for next spring, as I did get them in really late.

Those are both nice, the 'strange' one that I have that just popped up recently has the small flowers like those, but the coloring is different....my new seedlings are hidden in the grasses, so maybe they will be protected through the Winter...

I completely agree. Back home, fall was my favorite season... The leaves all turned such gorgeous, vibrant jewel toned colors, the chill in the air, raking all the leaves in a big pile & jumping in it... I miss that. Hardly ever get to see that here in Southern Calif.
