They are calling for a high of 85F. The high will not be below 81F for the next ten days. That is wrong, absolutely wrong. What happened to fall?

Aww, that is hot at this time...I am looking for rain...where are you rain..so many cloud formations yesterday, I thought it will try to drizzle..ah, tough luck!

Our temps are quite nice Fall like, enjoying it! At least good overnight humidity in the air when it is cold, so the plants are not pouting.

Really thankful for the low 70F's! Just finished repotting my two new plants..so it will just be good comfy temps for these new ones!
Aspidistra elatior 'Variegata'..really like how it looks now in that corner. That corner has always been too shaded and I have experimented several plants there already ending in failure either after winter or during our summer heatwaves. Hopefully this is it! This is my first time to grow this one:

Asparagus densiflorus 'Myers' - this I really have to see how it adapts here. Hopefully it does not mind being too hot when the hot temps return next year. I will keep it in this corner for now, in part shade and still able to get some nice northeast light.

T, I've grown that asparagus fern in shade outdoors in Phoenix when it gets to 115F. As long as it has lots of water, it's happy even when it's hot. Indoors it needs some pretty bright light to be happy. I don't think it can take any frosts or freezes.

Thanks Karen for the heads up on the frosts and freezes and watering during the hot dry days! I will move it indoors when we have that forecast. Thankfully, none so far. Feels really nice today, more like Spring than Fall!

Long ago we used to be very cool by Nov. Most years we used to have a fire in the fireplace by Halloween. Not this year! We are still running the AC.

Yep...I used to look forward every year to lighting the woodstove in October....October has always been my favorite month...and then it got so that October was the worst fire danger month in SoCal. This last October up here was a bit too wet for me to enjoy the full joys of October.

I have only had to turn on the heat twice before getting in the shower, so far, and we are supposed to get back into low 90s starting tomorrow. SA did so well on the water conservation last year that we get to water 3 times a week now. LOL! The "global warming" is very obvious here, at least to me, as I've been in this same area so long. I think back to when my boys were in school, and the worst heat/smog alerts were always just when school started in Sept, and the worst Santa Ana winds. Things have definitely changed!

Don't they bark a lot? Those that I see at Pier 39 are like that..bark..bark..bark..roll over, sleep, bark, bark, bark..or maybe they are just annoyed seeing so many people around, just trying to keep us off, though we are all a distance away already Big Grin

They are calling for a high of 89F. I am so tired of the relentless heat. I would just like to be able to lay on the couch in the evening and watch t.v. without sweating. Is that too much to ask?

We are going to El Paso later in the year to visit MIL and it should be in the 50s. I'm looking forward to it.
