gemini_sage said:Barbara, I felt like that for years, and still do from time to time, but one thing I appreciate about middle age is that I've come to realize that its the gardening journey that means most to me, rather than the end result. I used to long to see it all finished and complete, now I hope I never do.

Your right, Neal, and very well said.

I love your place Sherry! Thumbs up

Wow Deb, I'm loving all your flowers. I'd love to be a bee in your area.

As for irises, I have Double Shot and Managua sending up bloom stalks. Double Shot should open up soon. I planted it 2 years ago and I swear the rhizome was less than 2" long and as thin as a pencil. So happy it fattened up and will be flowering. Hurray! Managua was just planted in September/October. Hurray!

Neal, I don't know if you are familiar with the gardens as Sissinghurst Castle or not. You can sign up for their blog and since spring arrives for them earlier than it does for us I find it is a lovely place to online visit. They have books and videos out also. I hope the following address works for you.

Copy and paste this URL into your browser:

This current blog addresses a problem with snow crocus invasiveness, a problem I have not had so far as squirrels help themselves to the corms in the fall.
Thro' all the tumult and the strife I hear the music ringing; It finds an echo in my soul— How can I keep from singing?

Yep, no fair teasing us with pictures and no names!

My Clematis armandii is in full bloom. Which brings up a photography question I have for some of you folks who actually know what you're doing with a camera, regarding shooting white flowers... How can I get them to not be overexposed? I took this picture this morning while it was overcast. I have the same problem with all white flowers.

Also blooming today: Lapageria rosea, "Chilean Bellflower"

and Billbergia nutans, "Queen's Tears"
