Amazing that the cattle adapt. We had friends outside Del Rio that had a sheep ranch. We used to help them round up the sheep some weekends when DH was stationed at Laughlin AFB. They're both gone now, but she raised paint horses. When we moved to Austin, they would occasionally bring a horse in for breeding and stay with us. One year, they brought almost a dozen orphaned lambs with the horse. It had turned really cold and we had to move the cars out of the garage and set up an enclosure for the lambs. (We had a Great Dane that thought they would be delicious.) She and I had to get up twice during the night to feed the lambs with formula in adapted Coke bottles. They left about noon and when we went back inside, our dog was trying to take the backdoor off. Our friends had left us two lambs. We had to jump in the car and chase them down. Made them turn around the truck and trailer and come back to get the lambs.
